Nice to know your share the same sense of fashion as my teenage daughter...

I've been wearing these dumb, flat shoes for 25 years so I can't stop now.

MLB.com reports…

Imanaga was already the first pitcher in Major League history since at least 1901 to go 4-0 with an ERA under 1.00 in his first five career starts. But he added even more to his legacy on Wednesday, pitching a career-high seven scoreless innings while allowing three hits and striking out seven batters. Imanaga threw 87 pitches (58 strikes). He said the velocity on his fastball was down, but starting with the fifth inning was back to normal, clocking in as high as 93.4 mph.

I wasn't super high on Imanaga. Thought he'd be a mid to back end guy. He's been really good his first round through the league.

It’s not like he is a sure bet to continue being even so-so, but wow! He’s been buttah out of the gate.

Seth Lugo looks pretty good, too. You weren’t high on him as a SP either.

Another thing to consider: In any intelligent workplace, a good boss/manager would evaluate the employees and try to utilize them in the most effective way. Why can't MLB evaluate the umpires and use just the best ball/strike callers behind the plate in most, if not all, games. Pay them more if necessary. Why rotate the job to include the worst home plate umpires. Would you do that in any business ? Would Cora, trying to be fair, rotate his fielders ? ( Casas , it's your turn to play short today. Devers, you are catching because you played third base yesterday) It makes no sense.

Lugo is already at 31% of his previous high in innings for a year.

Okay, and last year was about 140% of his previous high.

There is no reason to think he can’t go 30 starts.

In one year?

I meant to say up about 40%.

It went from a previous high or 101 (2017 & 2018) to 146 (2023.)

You think he'll pitch 200 innings (another 40%)? Only 5 pitchers did so last year.

The Umpire Union does not allow this.

MLB does use their evaluations to determine the best umpires for the postseason, but even this has lead to a lawsuit and allegations of discrimination from Angel Hernandez, despite his lengthy track record of being a complete and well-known bonehead...

CB Bucknor and Laz Diaz are really bad behind the plate as well.

How dare any business discriminate against an employee, based on his competency in the workplace.

“Hernández has failed to establish a statistically significant disparity between the promotion rates of white and minority umpires,” the 2nd Circuit said in an 11-page decision. “MLB has provided persuasive expert evidence demonstrating that, during the years at issue, the difference in crew chief promotion rates between white and minority umpires was not statistically significant. Hernández offers no explanation as to why MLB’s statistical evidence is unreliable.”

Angel Hernandez is not a good umpire in general. But behind the plate, he is almost comically incompetent. No intelligent management would continue to give him that assignment. Crazy world.

Paul Skenes making his MLB debut today. This guy is filthy. The only question is how long is arm is going to last. He is built big though so maybe he will last

I have had enough of these moronic city connect uniforms. I turn on the Dodgers to watch a classic matchup against the Giants, who are wearing some ridiculous looking college type uniform. The people running baseball are great at killing their product.

The guy is such a punchline.

I was pitching to my daughter the other day, and she avoided a pitch way outside, which I told her was a strike. She disagreed. But when I then called it an “Angel Hernandez Strike,” she did agree to that…

News: Rimas Sports, the agency owned by Bad Bunny, filed a federal lawsuit against the MLBPA today accusing the union of "placing a death penalty" on the agency through an investigation "designed to put Rimas out of business."

And Jay Groome somehow manages to become even less relevant…

Strahm for PHI in 2024:

25 IP

2 ERs (0.72 ERA)

16 Hits

3 BB

35 Ks

0.760 WHIP

.468 OPS Against

Some of the guys Bloom signed have done much better, after leaving, as in Strahm & Perez. (Others, not so much.)

He was in competition for a Padres rotation spot last season, but ended up staying in AAA where he had a 8.55 ERA. Too many fish tacos probably. I believe he's working through injuries this season.

Recently my daughter pointed out to me RHRP Will Smith has 3 World Series rings in the last 3 seasons. Has anyone else ever won 3 consecutive rings with 3 different teams?
