Devers reminds me a little bit of Greg Nettles. Nettles was a good hitter, but a really bad defensive 3rd baseman. He worked on his defense and became one of the top defensive 3rd baseman of his time. Whether that happens to Devers, at this point, doesn't seem likely, but ya never know.

 

Nettles caught Yaz's foul out pop-up in the '78 playoff game. Gossage's gas overcame Carl's bat . Worst game I ever watched. Mike Torrez vs Bucky Dent, almost impossible

Very good inning for Houck, perhaps can get 4 now. He is working against an approximate 75 pitch limit

So far, Devers has 3 foul balls that if he could hit correctly would be long HR's. Instead he chalks up his 2nd K.

after 7 seasons, he's still the worst defensive 3B in the league. unfortunately, i think the whole "work on his defense" ship has sailed for Raffy.

Gotta be intimidating first start in the big leagues after an injury like Houck had. I'm already happy and proud of him for this start.

Yes, Blind Lou's stab at the the ball in the sunfield cut off the possibility of several runs.

Turner can opt out on his own, if he thinks he might get a 2 year deal elsewhere . He's not under team control

Devers needs to be removed to embarrass him. He needed to cover home on that play. Put Reyes in at 3B
