Texas made a great signing with Nate and an apparently horrific signing with deGrom.

Pitchers seem to be the ultimate crapshoot.

with deGrom's injury history, i don't know how he get's that deal. i couldn't believe it. he's almost like a right-handed Sale. and the Rangers get to pay him $192M over the next 5 years.

Most Qualifying Offers get turned down, so that doesn't really count.

Do we know exactly how much higher the Red Sox offer was than the Rangers' offer? Is it that well documented?

Reportedly it was more guaranteed money, but the Rangers’ offer does have some incentives that can bring it up to a 3 year $63mill deal. If so, Nate simply bet on himself and it’s working. But given his injury history, that was no sure bet. Unless he simply has a desire to return to Texas, I’m surprised he did bet on himself. (Although realistically what was he risking? Not like taking the Texas deal and missing the incentives meant the Eovaldi family would be reliant on food stamps.)

Yeah, it's kind of playing with house money, considering no matter what his lifetime earnings from baseball will be well over $100 mill.

This is the first game I've gone to this year at Fenway that didn't end in a walk off HR. What a disgrace!! I want my money back

Well, at least you didn't have to suffer watching Ort last night, so there's that.
