You do realize Ted wrote that DURING the game as a tongue in cheek prediction of what Cora would say, right?

With the way the pitchers were used tonight, if he said he tried to intentionally lose this game, I’d believe him.

Cora postgame: "Kluber really bailed out the bullpen by eating innings tonight. The ball was coming out of his hand good. They were just finding some holes. Overall, he did a nice job. We're on to New York."

Please tell me that quote is made up.

Finding holes? Yeah Ramirez noticed a weak spot in the Sox outfield in that they couldn’t cover the right center field bleacher seats…

Fairly certain Cora wants to get fired.

I’m ok if that happens.

Why did he bring in the mop up guy into a one run game? Kluber is a guy you bring in when the score is already 8-2, not because you want a 3-2 game to become 8-2…

That random guy whose name isnt even worth remembering who started tonight got DFA.

Why the hell did they start that guy? Is there a reason they’d want to lose game? I don’t understand the logic behind anything the team did tonight

I’d have preferred they kept him over Kluber…

Apparently he was DFAd to make room for Duvall.

I am wondering if the only reason he started was to line up Whitlock for game one of the Yankee series…

I feel like there had to of been a better option than starting some 32 year old career bum who had 1 appearance since 2020, and who’s most notably known for homophobic and borderline racist tweets, and anti transgender tweets. Like really? This is what we’re doing now?

Cora had to defend this guy before the game because of his tweets and then they DFA him anyway. Just a stupid, questionable move that does absolutely nothing to help the team. They should have just forfeited if the plan was starting this guy and using Kluber as first guy out of the pen.

They just lost 2 of 3 to the team who has the second worst run production in MLB.

Like how do you allow the Guardians to score 10 runs!? This pitching is really bad

Kluber has to be DFA'd. No need to keep embarrassing him and us like this.

Our Opening Day starter?!?

The one single offseason addition to the rotation to replace Eovaldi-Wacha-Hill?!?

The inning regurgitator with downside?!?

He's already done and represented enough to get both the CBO and manager fired. If they cut him now, their use of him is irredeemable. If they keep him, and he somehow rebounds to throw a scoreless middle inning of relief here and there, at least they can pretend to have discovered a redefined role in his solar plexus eclipse.

That's a humorous and horrible thought, that Kluber might single-handedly get both Bloom and Cora fired.

This team has to start new from the very top starting with JH, and work its way down through Bloom, and Cora. Imagine all the giddiness that was on here when the Sox were going through their winning streak. Now it’s just an embarrassment of a team.

Frankly I smelled a rat with Bloom's construction of the 2023 team right from the get-go.

No matter how you look at things glass half empty, or glass half full it still adds up to a losing last place in the division team.

Right where we deserve to be. They cheaped out on starting pitching, and somehow forgot about defense. No one should be surprised by the results.

AC gave him the ball with a one-run deficit and watched with the rest of us as Kluber gave up eight straight hits. These weren't bloopers and bleeders, but a 4th of July fireworks display of bottle rockets, roman candles and cherry bombs.

Amidst the carnage, I actually wondered if the one guy who could've stopped it, chose not to because of some secret animus towards either the player... or the exec who acquired the player.

Yeah, we'll never know. But starting Dermody seemed to send a clear signal we were puntin' this one. Maybe that pissed Alex off.

So one s***** start and a PR debacle. Good goin', Chaim!

They could have just called Walter up and sent him back down. I know this was in part due to the double header, but there were other ways to manage this if they only needed 3 innings. Just throw Kluber out there since that's what they ended up doing anyway? IDK. Sometimes Chaim just does the dumbest s*** and doesn't anticipate the obvious blowback.

The good news for me is that you made me rediscover Over the Monster. "Chaim Bloom is a terrible liar", as they put it.

They could have just used Whitlock since it was his normal turn. Cora used 2 openers in a row, and then a batting practice pitcher down only 1 run in the 5th inning to piggyback one.

If they lose tonight with Whitlock because Cora wanted to line up with the Yankees then he needs to go. I understand these games are impor for tiebreakers and stuff but f*** you need to win some games!

Cora doesn't make these decisions. All of these decisions are FO dictated. He has "some" input, but that's how it works now.

The Sox scored a total of 3 runs in this game. As I pointed out on another game thread, 80% of the Sox wins have occurred when they score at least 5 runs. 3 ain't going to do it.

Kluber pitched a clean 5th, at which point the score was 3-1, Cleveland. So out he went to pitch the 6th and just got hammered: the first four Cleveland hitters went dinger, single, double and double, making the score 6-2. At that point I thought the game was out of reach because of the recent spate of weak hitting by the Sox.

And I think it's pretty clear that, by leaving Kluber in, Cora had reached the same conclusion.

So why use Kluber at all? Because he's on the freaking roster. As it turned out, when Kluber went out to pitch the 6th--after a very successful 5th inning--the Sox definitely had a shot. But then came the avalanche. When Ramirez led off with the dinger, the score was still just 4-2. It wasn't until the 4th hit that it went to 6-2.

As for Whitlock not starting last night, Cora gave him 6 days rest between his first and second starts (since returning to the rotation) and probably figured to give him 6 days this time--which is tonight.

Too much analysis. It's baseball. There are no major upsets in any single game. No bookie in the country will ever give long odds on an MLB game. This is not Alabama vs Kent St. football. Too many variables. In the long run, the good teams will win more than the jabronis.

Obviously you have forgotten about Aaron Small…

Duvall back batting 5th tonight. Easy pitcher to face with Cole going. Raffy usually hits Cole, so maybe he’ll get going tonight.
