Jason, here is a game plan for winning today; Sox score first and add incremental runs over the first 6 innings. Houck limits rays to 2 runs over 6 innings, avoiding the blow-up inning. Kike goes error free , and so do all other Red Sox defenders. Duran, Casas, and Devers each get 2 rbi hits. The bullpen delivers 9 outs without allowing a run, not sure who is available today but in any case it is not Jansen . Achieve these simple goals and it is a win over the Rays.

Any resemblance to actual game results is purely coincidental and reflects the opinion of the author, not NESN or its employees like O'B and Youk or Wakefield.

A series of roster moves:

Bernardino, who was called up as the 27th man for yesterday, retuned to Worcester.

Joely Rodriguez placed on the 15 day IL

Sherriff optioned to Worcester.

Ort recalled from Worcester (before anyone screams, bullpen was heavily used yesterday and they need available bodies; Sherriff pitched twice and has options).

Bernardino recalled from Worcester to take Joely's spot on the 26 man,

I like this truly optimistic post except for the word 'simple.'

I traveled to visit my son (Air Force) in California recently. Caught a couple ball-games. One was AAA RiverCats game. I had no idea they could challenge balls and strikes. I loved it. Can't wait for it to make it up to mlb.

I’m assuming there has to be a limit to how many they can challenge right? I feel like that could make the game last forever

I'm not certain on the rules.... but saw it used twice in that game. Both times the call was confirmed / overturned in about 30 seconds.

Cora' boy with snother GIDP.

Does he know how to take it to right field?

I was hoping he'd strike out.

Three per team... here is a good explanation and example / video:

This dumb ass is calling pitches down the middle balls and then calls a pitch a foot outside a strike to Valdez.

Make it make sense

Lead off man reaches both innings, no follow up until the King of Walks reaches right behind Kike's GIDP, followed by Wong's walk, but ended by Valdez's K.

If they were allowed to challenge in this game, both teams might be out of challenges with how bad this guy is!

To remind. The strike zone is not, repeat not, what you see on the screen. It's a TV fabrication that nobody on the playing field can see.

We--the TV audience and the players and umpires on the field--can all see the ball, the plate, the player in the batter's box, the bases, the catcher, the pitching rubber, the foul lines, etc. But nobody on the field can see that rectangle.

Is there someone that thought the television graphic was actually there in real life?

Big series with the Rays, but where is our only All-Star, Devers? Duran has 2 hits so far. Devers has none.

Can't complain about Duran's game this year. He obviously put work in and it has paid off.

They do umpire reports after each game and this dude routinely grades as a bad umpire who misses dozens or ball/strike calls.. he’s sucks at his job and doesn’t need you defending him.

Stupid, stupid outfield play by Duran. He lines himself up to make the big throw, and then freaking pauses after he catches the ball. This not only guarantees the runner on 3b will score, but enables the Ray on 1b to advance to 2b.

I love Tanner's body language and swagger. I hope his game catches up to it. He carries himself with confidence, a "I don't give a $%@ attitude." A very important part of being a good starting pitcher.

Dumb ass throw by Duran.

Possible ending double play opportunity erased.

Houck bailed him out.

Why do we have so many undisciplined players?
