I know Cora was following that old theory of let your stud get past his prior f***up. However, the corollary is that back to back f***ups mess with their mind. I still think Jensen was not feeling strong

What is he supposed to do? He has to use what Bloom got him.

Didn’t Bloom get him Schreiber, too?

Whoever but Jansen. You can see from miles he is not 100%.

Ref!

I feel safe saying that Sale is back.

I'm not talking about freakin' Chris Sale: I'm talking...

Chris Freakin' Sale!

Congrats you did it again. You’re like the cat on the Fockers. JINX!

He did. But he ain't the closer.

I don’t think you are getting the point. Jansen is not at 100%. His velocity and command aren’t there, not to mention his mind after a BS.

Story will have to play SS when he's back. Kike cannot play there

Hernandez can’t play at all.

With the help of the Cards' batters. It's not a one-way street.

Are you serious? Jansen put the first two Cardinals on base without their having to swing the bat. In fact, they scored 3 freaking runs on 1 hit.

Postgame analysis on NESN is all about the fact that the umpire penalized Jansen for pitching too quickly.

Yeah, they are joke.

There’s no rule that you have to use your closer in the ninth inning, especially one day after he collapsed and gave up 3 runs without getting an out.

Schreiber has watched Jansen give up 6 runs on one inning in this series and can’t get handed the ball despite being the best RP on the team one year ago…

The Cards, based on their W/L record, most likely lost games they probably should have won earlier on. Now the opposite is happening. What I do know is this Cards' team is much better than their current record.

Wow! Maybe the Red Sox should just trade Wink, and Jansen since just maybe their unavailability for the rest of the year could be a good thing. What a tough critic. Usually it least takes a pitch, or two for the gloom, and doom to start, but not today.

You disagree with me at considerable risk. I said Jansen shouldn't pitch today, and I was right. I hasten to add that it was an obvious call because Jansen looked completely helpless/hopeless last night while throwing 22 pitches and getting no one out.

Also worth noting is that, with just one inning of relief needed to preserve that 2 run lead, Cora and his bullpen coach decided that absolutely no one in the bullpen--other than Jansen--was capable of getting that save. So forget my opinion and go with theirs. They think their bullpen stinks.

I don’t think they’re as good. The way the sox lost these two games is a joke.

No. It was a one way street today…

I'm sure you're right about the Cards. But today was a freaking gift. They got 3 runs on 1 hit.

But, I have to ask, why are we talking about the Cardinals when the Sox just gave away two games they should have won? Two good starts--actually one good start, and one great start--wasted.

Today's loss was especially painful because sending out Jansen was not only stupid, it also indicated that Cora apparently believes he can't trust anyone in his bullpen other than Jansen.

Playing like the .500 team management wants so they don't have to pay top salaries... The sheep will always fill the park and buy their streaming nonsense..

Jansen ERA 2 days from 0.77 to 4.26

But it's fair. We all talk about how difficult it is to go through the batting order a second or especially a third time. Closers never have to do that. It's why most of them need only two pitches to be effective. Jansen has pitched all of 12.2 innings without ever having to face hitters twice in the same game. And he's given up 6 freaking runs. For this he's getting paid $16M.

Martin, and Schreiber were well rested. Cora was lucky he got away with letting Blier pitch to the heart of the order yesterday.

I didn’t say Jansen should pitch today, but I agree you were right.
