This series is starting to feel like can we even score a run, never mind win a game

Are you surprised? This was supposed to be a good early test and they have failed thus far.

I’m not surprised, with their pitching and enough hitting they can win the AL East .

Yup still have question marks if their offense can outhit other good hitting teams but they have pitching that’s for sure.

5 guys in this weak lineup below .200, one of them below .100, a combined 2.500 ( 5 batters) if you prefer OPS. Bloom has more work to do , and it's ok if it is early.

It is mathematically possible to leave TB 8 games out after not quite 2 weeks of baseball. It is also possible to win tonight and the next 2 to turn the AL East around. Possible, but unlikely

Whitlock needs to give us shutout innings. Those 2 runs look like 10 runs.

Whitlock isn’t the problem tonight.

The Rays’ staff hasn’t given up a run since Friday…

Whitlock as a starter would be the better comparison.

4.15/3.60/1.26

Turns out, Whitlock is still stuck in the past. Good stuff, but not good enough, especially his fast ball. McClanahan has vastly outpitched him even with the three walks. Just like last night, Sox hitters look mesmerized.

Whitlock is better when he keeps the ball low, which is mostly what McClanaha has done.

Shout out to Wong for throwing out two Rays baserunners.

Like I said, the Rays love Whitlock's fastball, but Wong or the benchd keep telling him to throw more of them.

McClanhan has a much better fastball, but he also has very good breaking stuff and is better at keeping the ball low.

Like I said before the game, Whitlock is an inexperienced starter. And so is his catcher and whoever might be calling pitches from the bench.

The offense without Duval is mediocre at best. Devers has nobody around.

The crazy fact that they have to depend on duval and the best start he has ever had in his career speaks volumes about how badly this lineup is in reality. Duval was ho-hum before this career start with this team .

3-0 feels like 10-0. Boston 4-16 in their last 20 games at the Trop. House of horrors.

This team has been very weak since 2019, most of the years.

House of horrors is why Refsnyder dropped the ball. He made a perfect grab, but then his glove hit that hard surface and the ball came out. My guess is that the Rays outfielders know how to prevent that from happening, and that none of the Sox coaches do, let alone Refsnyder.

Unfortunately it might be like that against the best teams in their division.

We are sort of forced into seeing too much of Wong AB's because Cora obviously believes the C position is a R-L platoon. I think we have 6 more LH's scheduled vs Red Sox over the next 7 days. Getting to know you , Connor, but do appreciate cutting down the runners

We've played more RHPs than LHPs, up to now, and Wong has way more PAs.

What is obvious?

McClanahan not only keeps the ball low, he has way better stuff than Whitlock. Sharper breaking balls and faster fast ball.

Dalbec for President/GM/Team Captain!!!!

Wicked, wicked changeups by McClanahan. Whitcomb's is nowhere near as good.

Yes I agree... hard to feel optimistic when, outside of Devers, there is not one bat in the lineup giving me hope of something happening. Duval gone- just hardly feels like a major league lineup.

Duvall would have struggled against this year's Rays pitching. That inflated OPS is against lousy pitching.
