Another person who needs to step it up is friend Bloom. It was a marginal roster to start with , players located out of their best positions. Now his only performing addition of the off season is gone, maybe because he was unluckily in CF ? Chaim needs to fix this and it's not Dalbec by himself.

Sox could use Beeks and Springs but they gave them both away to Tampa. Springs has been lights out. Nice evaluation of him by Bloom.

1) You are making the assumption that both would have developed the same way with the Sox. What about any recent Sox pitcher would indicate that would have happened?

2) Beeks was traded for Eovaldi in 2018; you really want to say he was given away?

You are right on Beeks but Sox have no return on Springs. Both of them made 1/20th of what the Sox paid Eovaldi after 2018.

But wait--Bloom apologists have claimed repeatedly that he's 'building up the farm.' Odd that in those years of boy-genius building up the farm, there is not a single shortstop who could even come up in an emergency.

Great 7 innings by the Sox pitching and, dare I say it, defense. Hitting, not so much.

I rarely say this, but tonight the home plate ump has definitely given the close ones to Tampa and not to the Sox. However, even with that advantage, Tampa has not scored in 7 innings.

Need some hitting. I hate losing games when the pitching is superb.

Excellent start by Pivetta today. Too bad his offense couldn't score.

Couldn't score???? Anybody who's gotten on base has celebrated afterward as though they'd hit a grand slam--and by "who" I mean Sox so-called hitters.

So, Dalbec for Casas.

Before the season started, I would have bet on Casas to hit well this year. Shows what I know.
