You were the one reminding us about the waivers step before any return to BOS.

I have no doubt he will clear. Most teams passed on him in the Rule 5 draft and he wasn’t “injured” then. I’m not so sure he’s as widely coveted around the league as he is on this board. A lot of teams look at him as a 26yo pitcher who hasn’t pitched since facing some 60 hitters in Rookie Ball four years ago, and many of them have plenty of younger arms that they view as superior due to their development…

I think maybe most teams passed, because they never expected he'd be available.

A lot will depend on how he looks whenever he throws.

They all knew he was eligible. Only one team thought he was worth the risk…

This, teams knew, just no one has taken a risk like that before.

I meant eligible in terms of the military commitment being lifted after the draft.

Song is currently on a throwing program and facing live hitters. My guess is that it's not that much different than what the Sox could do. The only difference is that the Phillies are limited in how long they can leave him in the minors this season. I don't think it's hurting him right now. If they try to rush him to MLB and stash him on the bench, that'd be a different story.

They had him throwing in camp, the Sox would have had him on a conditioning program.

We don’t know how much throwing he was doing. It’s kind of a mystery. I don’t think he’s injured. He’s “injured.”

Now that Freddy Valdez, of the Beni trade, has been cut loose, can we start talking about Luis de la Rosa and the guy who pitched a a good game at AA, tonight: Grant Gambrell

6BB for Drohan isn't exactly pitching "well" IMO. It's definitely a step up from his previous two starts. Like I've said before, there's a bigger jump from AA to AAA now due to getting rid of short season ball.

Mayer is in today’s lineup.

Wouldn't be surprised if he struggles for a few weeks after a big jump, and if he doesn't? even better. Would love to see him hit the accelerator and hit his way into Boston 2024.

I don't disagree, and obviously it was a big one for Drohan, but AA is still a pretty big proving ground.

(Yes, 6 BB makes my "well" statement questionable, at best.)

Somerset is having TBD start today. He's a pretty big name and has been around for a while. Should be a really big test!

@IanCundall

Something to watch, Red Sox OF Miguel Bleis left the Salem game tonight after hurting what looked like his left hand/wrist on a groundout to shortstop in the 8th. He didn't get out of the box after making contact and was immediately holding the area near his left thumb.

Mayer finished the game 0-5 with 2 K’s, and 7 LOB. His last AB he took a called 3rd strike with the bases loaded. Now he’s got his feet wet we’ll see how it goes from here.

He's a Bum!!!!! Fire Bloom.

Trade him to NYY for Jasson Dominguez.

Per BTV:

Peraza/Dominguez/Mayea

for

Mayer

Bloom should have traded him yesterday while his value was at an all time high. Now he’s been exposed at AA and his value has cratered to next to nothing. Unbelievable

Grade A+ sarcasm right there.

Lol, I’ll take that as a compliment given the works today in which you never truly know haha

Someone on this site likely believes it.

I mean, I’m sure someone thinks value is quick to rise drop after a small sample size but I don’t believe anyone believes my insane over simplification of them folk haha.

Then again…..people surprise me.

Someday, someone might say, "We should have traded him while he was still in A+ ball, and Hugh was right."
