Dugo's defense is dogshit. He did surprisingly do well in RF last year but he blows playing the Monster. Probably the worst I've ever seen. Worse than Manny

Good news! As of yesterday, Verdugo is most likely the RF with Yoshida taking over LF…

Bad news! I thought Verdugo was dogshit in RF last year. He looked ok there in 2020. I mean, he looked really promising in 2020 all around...

I wonder if he will be around for 2023…

I doubt it. He does not fit their RF profile. He's worth more to someone else as a LF'er than us as a DH or platoon 4th OF'er.

And gotta make way for the Gallo Train!

@BeyondtheMnstr

ESPN's Kiley McDaniel on new Red Sox outfielder Masataka Yoshida:

According to "10 sources" he spoke to they all "thought the Red Sox overpaid by a hefty margin." One executive went as far as to say, "We thought he was worth less than half of what they paid."

Yesterday was fun, today f***ing sucks. Good thing it's not the weekend or I'd be sloppy drunk.

Looks like Correa to SFG and Swanson to the Cubs.

Andrus it is, unless we move Kike or Story to SS.

Here's the thing...

They massively underbid for their own players. They massively overbid for other players (supposedly). They take first rounders that nobody else has projected as first round talent regardless of if they could be had later in the draft. Why is their valuation so out of line with the rest of MLB?

The Twins still need a SS.

Does that even exist anymore in the MLB?

Who knows anymore... It's all hearsay and right now it's a dogpile on the Red Sox for good reason.

Why are we acting surprised Bogey bolted?

Who's surprised. We're frustrated. They should have figured this out LAST offseason. When it got to this point it was basically over.

I don't disagree, but we all pretty much knew he was a goner or at best 50-50.

The Globe story on a stunned Bloom finding out at the airport has really added to the outrage in New England today.

Not saying it's a false report, but it is The Globe.

Maybe Bogey told Bloom he'd come back before accepting an offer, but did not. That could be surprising, I guess.

I'm not happy, either. I'm frustrated that this is fast becoming a pattern.

I'm not surprised, and probably few are. Maybe I confused anger and frustration with surprise.

I'm glad we signed 3 key players and am trying to stay hopeful we add 2 more good ones- maybe 3.

Aside from Yoshida, what massive overbids are we talking about?

So he should have been traded last offseason then.

Yes, and I've said that before. Maybe even earlier, if we knew for sure.

I was even for trading him at the deadline, if he'd have agreed to waive the clause.

A comp pick sucks.

If they are keeping our stars until the end for the fans' enjoyment, it's not working.

I don't think they knew before 2022 that the 2022 team was going to go 78-84.

The argument about trading him at the deadline makes a lot more sense than the one about trading him before the season. That argument stinks.

So… the proper evaluation of Bogaerts is that he was worth $280mill from now to his 42nd birthday?

While I agree they underbid their own player (which is how they had Bogaerts 2020-2022), given the money being flung around this off-season, the Sox are on the short list that isn’t overbidding, right?

So trading Bogaerts was higher priority than returning to the ALCS? Or beyond it?

mvp and moon think they should have tanked 2022, basically.

So here's the thing about this over bidding. The way the salaries are going up year over year the price that these team will be paying their players in these long contract will probably be close to market price at that time. In 10 years from now 400+ million will be the new normal contracts
