I couldn’t think of anyone else for CF. My problem with Kiermaier is he gets hurt a lot and can’t hit against anyone but the Red Sox.

But if the Sox sign Judge and Kiermaier, then trade Hosmer to Seattle for the disgruntled and unwelcome Jesse Winker for DH. (They’re issues with Winker include his lack of desire to work on his fielding. So if he’s a DH, who cares?)

Hosmer has a full NTC, but so far we only know he doesn’t want to go to a rebuilding team. Seattle, as an ALDS participant, certainly is not one, and their starting 1b (Carlos Santana) is a free agent. Certainly Hosmer would prefer starting in Seattle over watching Casas in Boston. And while Hosmer isn’t exactly the most exciting player, Seattle might enjoy his minimum wage salary…

I'd still rather just sign a cheap SS with a great glove as a bridge to Mayer and keep Kike in CF.

I'm fine with trading Hosmer, but it's hard to know which team might have interest. He's not very good on D and looks like a platoon at bat, but at least he's on the bigger side of a platoon,

Seattle manager Scott Servais on Wednesday defended Jesse Winker in veiled reference to the report that Winker was lazy and disliked by teammates:

https://www.lookoutlanding.com/2022/10/19/23413683/mariners-end-of-season-press-conference-free-agency-injury-updates-looking-forward

The takeaway from Wednesday's postseason media conference was that the Mariners may have trouble making room for Kyle Lewis, Taylor Trammell, Jesse Winker and Abraham Toro as well as pending free agents Mitch Haniger, Carlos Santana and Adam Frazier. First baseman Eric Hosmer would be a surprising pickup when fellow former Gold Glove winner Evan White probably has more upside on the far, far end of the Seattle bench.

It really is true: no Red Sox player is wanted by the Mariners. You guys are better at each and every position.

I've read of Seattle fans who covet Rafael Devers, Xander Bogaerts, Trevor Story and other Red Sox.

Eric Hosmer does not fall into that category.

I can name another player not covered by Mariners’ fans and (more importantly) management - Jesse Winker.

Let’s not pretend the Mariners only acquire players that make the collective nipples of the fans perk up; you guys did acquire Carlos Santana last year.

And BTV values Hosmer more than they value Winker…

Of course if Seattle plays hardball on Hosmer the Sox could always offer 2b Enmanuel Valdez (.918 OPS across 3 leages in 2022) for Winker…

BTV is not always right. There is a reason you would trade Hosmer for Winker.

Despite his trouble with the team, I think he's worth way more than Hosmer. I'd be happy, if we got him for Hosmer & E Valdez. I'd even throw in Seabold.

Carlos Santana served as the caddy for 21-year-old Julio Rodriguez ... and a good caddy at that.:)

Hosmer can take over that role.

Julio Rodriguez would likely be disappointed.:)

Eric Hosmer is not replacing All Star first baseman Ty France and Seattle manager Scott Servais prefers to rotate players through the DH slot ... although that could be Jesse Winker's primary role next year.

Being a "caddy" does not mean taking anyone's starting role.

Well really all that matters is what Jerry DiPoto thinks. He’ll probably consider it more once he’s done negotiating that Tommy Milone / Blake Snell trade.

No word on Enmanuel Valdez for Winker?

In the case of Julio Rodriguez it means being culturally appropriate role model who knows the strike zone.

It's Dipoto with a lower-case p. Then again, Valdez offers his unusual spelling of the first name of the nearly 24-year-old 18th-ranked prospect for the Red Sox.

Jesse Winker may a designated hitter batting leadoff for the 2023 Seattle Mariners.

Or not.

An Over the Monster blogger examines Jesse Winker as a Red Sox trade target:

Ok let’s say it comes down to that.

Judge fills multiple needs for the Sox, as he does for any team. He could easily play RF at Fenway.

He’s probably looking for, at minimum 10 years $320mill. Certainly the first few seasons should be worth it, even if he can’t replicate his 2022. But given his age (30) and injury history, how many years would he need to be close to his 2021 self to justify it? And how many years of unproductive Judge can any team expect at the end of the deal?

Even if he does get a 10 year deal and he starts faltering after 6 years, the Yankems' FO can still put him out to stud and perhaps create a few more Judges.

No mention of what Seattle would want in return.

Doesn't really matter. Per BTV, the guy really doesn't have much trade value. If they'd deal him, they wouldn't get much in return. Send them Abreu?

I think he is worth more than what BTV says he is, despite the "issues" he has, but I'd give them Abreu & Hosmer.

I like him more than anyone else we have at DH, right now.

They need someone to replace the irreplaceable Adam Frazier.

Enmanuel Valdez should suffice…

I’ve been trying Bloom all day to go get Winker, but no answer.

I suppose it’s entirely possible that it isn’t Bloom that I’m texting. Not like I have his cell number. I just sorta guessed and assumed it was in 617…

I'd really like to know who SEA would settle on for him. They may want a prospects not needed to be added to the 40.

Ain't happening.

1. Bloom said at the presser he needed home runs.

2. Valdez is not only his guy, but

3. Bloom traded clubhouse harmony for him...

4. ..and now: long live King Enmanuel, crown jewel of the Mexican Home Run Derby!

Pretty sure he still kept his 813 number being Tampa North and all.

Roman Anthony has the same value per BTV, but I see no reason the Sox would give up on a guy like Anthony that early on for one year of Winker.
