No one and i mean NO ONE has complimented Ryan Brasier on his SEVEN pitch shutdown inning, so here it is. Braman---you are a 38DD buddy. Notice also how guys like Danish, Brasier and ORT do better with 8 run leads instead of 1 or 2 runs, sometimes 4 or even 5. whatever

Before getting shelled @ BAL on Aug 19th, Brasier retired 10 straight batters in a 3-2 win v NYY, a 3-0 win v NYY and an 8-3 win @ PIT.

Moon, why do you have to ruin perfectly good posts with facts? Have you no shame?

He still sucks

It's the reason Brasier has stuck around so long. As soon as you are really close to DFA'ing him, he goes on a mini-streak.

Rinse-repeat...

I really would prefer he not come back, next year, but I get a sneaky feeling...

Including tonight, in his last 15 games Brasier has given up 0 runs in 10 of them. When he's good, he's pretty good, and when he isn't, he's horrid.

Leaving him in long enough to let up 5 runs, doesn't help.

Max, you do realize that you've described about half the relievers in MLB.

Yanks lose 9-0.

It would have helped the Sox for TBR to lose, but this still feels good.

Tampa is now 5 games out; 4 in the loss column. Another 'gut punch' to Boone.

We aren’t catching Tampa. Go Rays, win the division!

I agree

I can’t stand the Yankees and even more so Toronto. I live in Canada. They think they have Gods team. Can’t wait to see Toronto lose first round in the playoffs

I’m all for Tampa winning the division.

But no rings, so they suck, people say.

I go both ways on that. Mostly, I applaud what they have done. When John Henry took over the Red Sox, they were already competitive, but couldn't get over the hump and end the 86 year drought. The Rays, like the fish they were named for, lived in the depths year after year. Suddenly, in 2008, they won 97 games after winning just 66 in 2007--and defeated the White Sox in the ALDS and the Red Sox in the ALCS before going down to the Phillies in the WS. Since then, they haven't even been back to the World Series, but they have become semi-regulars in the postseason, and the team deserves much better fan support than they get. Moneyball is all about Billy Beane and the A's and sabermetrics--which at the end of the movie John Henry says he too believes in. But to me what the Rays have done is far more impressive in terms of getting quality players and teams with relatively low salaries because they have been far more successful in winning games and getting to the postseason.

On the other hand, I do not believe the postseason is a crapshoot. Winning the WS still means something, so does getting to the World series and even getting to the ALCS or NLCS. Last year I thought the Braves winning the WS was a fluke, but in fact they had a solid run differential of +134. In the National League only the Dodgers and Giants were better, and they had to play each other in the NLDS, with the Dodgers winning and then losing in 6 games to the Braves, who then beat the Astros.

I agree with that statement. Being in Canada I hate Toronto more than the Yankees.

I live in Canada too. But I can never hate the Jays more than the Yankees.
