Pivetta makes the play, great for him and team, but yet another shot back at our pitcher. Nick looks like it is hurting. he may be done. Might get cheated out of evening his W-L record.

Devers has to be looking at Julio Rodriguez's contract and saying, "I want some of that". I can't believe Seattle committed that much money to a 21 year old rookie hitting .267 with 22 homers. If he was hitting .367 with 44 homers ok, maybe.

Some here believe that the SOX should have done the same with Devers. It's definitely a big risk for ownership.

Another miss by the chUMP. Wong did not foul nor touch that first pitch.

Umpires must have really great meal per diems because if they are over 50 they are fat.

210M is guaranteed. So technically that could be the max he gets. Devers wouldn't go for that as he thinks he's work 300M+ guaranteed which he's not.

Julio is also having a better season than Devers and does more than hitting. He's also a great baserunner and great D. A 5 tool player.

Devers is only valuable at hitting.

I'm sorry but Devers is way over valued. Matt Olsen got 8/168 and Devers is quite comparable to his numbers. The only difference is 2 in age gap

Devers' defense has improved immensely. And he is 'valuable' at hitting. Very valuable.

All those huge contracts are a big risk. Some work out. Most don’t.

One thing I have "eye tested " is that our relievers have trouble avoiding the 2 out walk, especially on 3-2 counts. Also have noticed, other teams hitters do not tend to chase low away sliders as do JDM and Kike among others. This plate discipline leads to 2 out baserunners for the opposition.

It depends how one defines 'didn't work out.' How do you feel about JD's 5 year contract? I feel it worked out. Some might look at 2020 and this year and feel it didn't work out.

He's mid pack this year for defense. Most of his value will be his bat. And his bat isn't that out of this world to get a 300M + contract

Keuchel with his 8.49 ERA pitching like Cy Young , but Devers figured that one out for a hit. Maybe Raffy is recovering his focus

I think JDs contract worked out fine. He was excellent for many years. You have to expect falloff at the end of the long term contract of an older player.

It worked very well (MVP caliber) in 2018 . Forget the Covid short season, nobody did well for Boston. But his production has clearly declined . The WS year validates the contract worth, but could it have been 3 years with club options. not player options?

When dealing with Devers, I would give him big bucks on whatever length contract he wants, AS long as there are options for him to walk( 3/4 yrs) and Boston to stop the bleeding if he falls off his bike after 5 yrs.. And allow trades after 3 years, maybe a limited list of all NL and 5 AL teams

The only proven MLB 5 tool players I'm aware of that are playing today are Trout and Betts. Can anyone think of any others?

I assume you skipped Ohtani because he has 6 tools, maybe more
