Seriously, most NL pitchers would be better at the plate than he his. He should try and bunt for hits, would have a better chance.

 

No they wouldn’t. JBJ sucks as a hitter, but his career stats are well above those of virtually any good hitting pitcher you could name. Bob Gibson had a .206 BA. Don Drysdsle was at .186, and those guys were sometimes used as pinch hitters.
