Refsnyder shows the patience of a veteran hitter to work that walk and runs Hughes pitch count up to 17

He sure did.

Cora seems to be alright with Robles out there. Gotta love Cora or you don't.

Who’s the bigger idiot Bloom for keeping Robles on the team, or Cora for putting him out there to pitch??

Can I call a friend? Too close for me to answer.

It's one thing to get frustrated and abusive on web threads like this, but how do you live , work and travel with guys like Cora and the coaches do, when you see actually how incompetent they are at their trade ?

A guy like Varitek should have serious ulcers by now

That’s on Bloom.

Bloom on the phone: "Cora, please bring Robles in the bottom of the 6th. He's really been effective lately."

Cora: "You betcha; I was thinking the same thing."

Varitek as the SOX next manager. I definitely see a championship coming in his 1st year. Please don't wait too long; I'm not getting any younger.

Diekman not sharp; not a surprise, he hasn’t pitched since last Friday, and he hasn’t been a model of control this year anyway.

Meanwhile, Robles has sucked four times since then.

Ahem. Agree Robles stinks. His WAR is the 2d worst on the pitching staff. -.4 before today but now probably -.5 of worse.

But consider. We have now seen THREE FREAKIN RELIEVERS get 4 outs while giving up 4 runs (Danish gave up the 4th with bases loaded BB), and all three stunk, including Diekman with his gratuitous WP to give up a run, followed by a BB before the final out.

On another thread I have argued the bullpen ain't half bad, but clearly I was wrong.

We are in the first game of 17 straight games without a break. So pardon me for saying so, but these relievers need to contribute.

And, while I am the mood for casting the first stone, Hill with his four freaking walks and 3 ER's didn't help much either.

Hill should have been taken out when he had that grimace. I watched his practice pitches, there was still a look on his face that said something was wrong. He wasn’t even close to the same for the couple batters he faced after that.

And you would be correct

It’s anecdotal I know, but it seems to me there have been a lot of times this year where Robles has come in with a clean inning, gets a quick 2 outs and then can’t finish the inning.

7th inning, lost the 4-0 lead, now down 6-5, and in comes our 4th reliever, Sawamura, who gives up a leadoff double in the 7th.

We seem to be tanking to trade Xander .No one was happier to the slow start than Bloom and if we get swept he can get his s***** package back for a half year rental .Bloom set this team up to fail with the likes of Rich Hill taxing a trash bullpen .

You were only off by a half.

9 walks and an HBP gets you down every time . Errors are called "extra " outs , which you can't afford but BBs and HBPs are 95% as good as singles

Make it 10 walks in 6 1/3rd. SMH
