Anyone bitching about Story at this point is an idiot .Mike Wacha is our prize acquisition folks .....The guy we destroyed in the World Series .....wayyyyyyy baaaaaaack Mike Wacha !!!!that guy ! s*** I’d Move Xander over in a nano second to second for Story .Xander can eat a bag of s*** if he throws a tude .

Story is probably a notch below Correa , but definitely will not cost as much. A lot has been made of his needing the mile high air to produce , but Fenway should also play to his strengths . He would replace the home runs we lost with Renfroe , while providing much better defense . He can also steal a bag or two. Assuming Correa signs with Houston , Story would be the best alternative . He can play second base and move over to short if Bogaerts leaves. This would allow Kike to stay in center , with JBJ in right ( or vice versa). The Sox really do need to do something to stir up a little excitement.

Univision reporting Story would have been a Redsox already but that he was told by the team Xander is our SS .....WTF is Chaim Thinking ? If true this Hire is horrific what a pussy for not telling Xander he’s moving over to better the team .We better hope Xander or Story has a change of heart or else We lose Story to SF .

Of all the FAs to get serious about, this just doesn't make sense, to me.

I guess we can wait and see the money it takes to sign Story, but I can't see the price lowering to a point where it does make sense.

Now, if we do sign him, it makes even less sense to play him at 2B and the worse defender at SS. To me, we might as well just trade Bogey to a team that lost out on Story and Correa.

Again, this make too little sense to me. Plus, we've been teased enough this winter, and getting teased about a player who is not a fit and not worth the money baffles me.

This also puts Bogey in a tough spot: agree to move positions to help the team or demand a trade.

,Moon be honest you’re beaten down by This Paethetic offseason up to now and guarding what’s left of your support for Bloom . I see you man and I get it .But don’t deny the Defensive upgrade this guy and or Correa would give this team .i would argue with JBJ in RF and Story at SS this team just needs to add a starter and that could very well come in-house .Playing Story at Second would be Horrendous by Cora .

I've always liked Bogaerts as a player but this dust-up highlights what I've always had as a concern about him - that he's a

'tail wagging the dog' type of player. When asked to move to 3rd base to allow Iglesias to play SS his offense fell off and it was attributed to the defensive change. Now he's being asked to move to 2B to accommodate Story and he's saying that he "sees himself as a shortstop".

Jeter fell a few rungs on my ladder when he refused to move to 3B for Arod. Is this situation with Bogaerts any different?

I’m not so sure that’s how any of it played out. For example, last September was the first time Iglesias and Bogaerts played together in Boston. Iglesias was dealt to Detroit 3 weeks before Xander’s MLB debut, and had been playing 3b (brilliantly) to accommodate Stephen Drew.

Bogaerts reportedly did tell the Sox he was more comfortable at SS, but by then Iglesias and Drew were both gone, plus Xander did play 3b in the World Series.

Story only recently pulled off his adamance at playing SS. And there have been stories for each side about whether or not Bogaerts would move…

Bogey is in his contract year, so that may be part of it.

I keep reading he has a no-trade clause, so he's not going anywhere this season unless they totally piss him off. As for Story, if we're honest with trying to think like the front office instead of as sucker fans, why create any lineup strife with X and blow all that dough when there's already a capable and totally inexpensive guy at second in Arroyo?

Possible.

He’s also a much better player than Story, too…

Arroyo has been a pleasant surprise, but also a durability nightmare.

If the Sox don’t land Story, I imagine Arroyo in a platoon with Bradley that involves bouncing Hernandez back and forth between 2b and CF…

Isn't Story the better defensive shortstop?

He is.

Kevin Newman is also a better defensive shortstop. If Boston acquired Newman, do you think Bogaerts should change positions to accommodate a guy with a .574OPS?

I can see both sides of a Story/Bogaerts case here. But if Boston moves X to 2b, extending him becomes more difficult.

And I'm sure the front office envisions this, as well. And again, it costs nothing more, since Kike is already under contract.

It does leave them with Duran starting in LF.

Hey, if he hits, they’re geniuses. But right now they need a parachute in case he doesn’t…

Per MLBTR, the Astros, Rangers and Yankees have joined the pursuit of Story.

The Astros make a ton of sense for so many reasons.

The Yankees? Maybe.

The Rangers’ entry into this is just making their front office look stupid…

Yes, it seems like they are putting a little faith in Duran. May have growing pains this year.
