EValdez is finally showing signs of the numbers he put up in AA and AAA in the Astros system (3-5 w 2B). Duran 2-4 w HR & BB. Almonte, not really a prospect 2-5 and at .943 with WOO. WOO was down 10-3, but it's 10-8 in the 9th, now.

POR is tied 3-3 in the 9th with a nice game from TWard.

GRE won 8-5. Hickey went 4-5 w two 2Bs. Mayer 2-4. Davis 2-3 w 2B & BB. Yorke 2-4.

SAL doing their part in trying for the third night in a row of all 4 Sox minor league teams winning. They are up 17-3!!!

Paulino 2-3 w 2Hrs and 7rbi & 2BB, 4 runs

Romero 3-5

Meidroth 2-4 w 2B & BB

Mejicano 2-4 w HR & BB

Ravelo with another big night (3-5)

Liendo 1-3 w 2BB and 3 runs

What happened to binelas and Kavadas’s ability to hit when they got promoted from Greenville to Portland?

Kinda small sample size.

Kavadas was at .821 before tonight. 0-3 w 2 BB dropped him to .790, which shows just how small the sample size is.

Can he get two more walks this season? Been a while since we had a 100 walk minor leaguer.

Did you know there is a hitter on the Sox farm with more than 98 BBs, this year?

YES!

Wilyer Abreu has 99.

3 players are over 100, this year, already. (on other teams.)

Note: Max Ferguson, another Sox farmhand has 94, giving us 3 in the top 6.

Are we headed back to OBP being a good thing?

I was only counting home grown walks!

Hang’em Chaim has traditionally been collecting two types of hitters, huge contact hitters and power guys.

If he seen the error of his ways and now pivoting to high obp guys, then all I have to say is “what took him so long to see the light?”

Now that he is going with high obp hitters; in order for Hang’em Chaim to fully remove his head from his sphincter, he needs to do two things:

1.) start collecting pitchers with power arms and electric stuff!!!!

2.) Secondly Hang’em Chaim desperately needs to learn how to build a bullpen!!!!! No more Robles, Danish, brazier and other fecal matter arms. We want high quality power arms in the bullpen!!!

No more retreads!!!!!!

Should we spend big on the pen, like the Yanks?

Has Bloom been drafting and signing big hulk power guys and not OBP guys that I'm not aware of?

He traded away a 30 HR guy.

He signed Story.

He drafted Yorke with his first pick ever.

He drafted Mayer with the highest pick the Sox have ever had.

He drafted Romero, this year.

None are big power guys.

1.) why do you associate acquiring quality arms with big spending?

2.) yorke, Mayer, and Romero are big contact guys. One of the two types of hitter that Hang’em Chaim covets.

3.) binelas, Jordan, Kavadas, etc power guys.

I see Kavadas as more about OBP than power.

I don't see Yorke, Mayer and Romero as all or nothing type players. They walk and get hits. Power is their, but it's not number 1.

To build the pen from the system will take time, so how else can we do it, without spending? Uehara's don't come along all that often.

Speaking of getting on base, Woo drew 11 BBs, today. (6 Ks)

Almonte and Sogard walked 3 times, each.

EValdez walked twice and homered.

Woo won.

GRE is up 3-0 in the 7th.

Hickey 2-3 with a homer.

At Portland, Hamilton with his 11th tater of the season and abreu with his 2nd.

Abreu and Valdez are finally showing what they can do.

Five popular ways to acquire talented pitchers:

1.) the draft - not really Hang’em Chaim’s thing early in the draft!

2.) international signing - not really Hang’em Chaim’s thing to sign top 20 internationally ranked pitchers!

3.) trades - vastly underutilized by Hang’em Chaim.

4.) free agent signings - Hang’em Chaim seems to shop for Kia pitchers and routinely passes on Bugatti pitchers.

5.) rule 5 draft - Hang’em Chaim got a hit on this!

As you can see Hang’em Chaim is his own worst enemy when it comes to acquiring pitching!

You forgot waiver wire: Schreiber.

On FA signings, he did very well on Wacha at $7M and Strahm for just $3M. Hill at $5M was not horrible. Diekman's signing sucked, but we got the CWS to take his contract and give us a catcher we might use as our starter.

Last year, he swung and missed on Richards and Perez, but it looks like he was just a year off on Martin. The Ottavino trade brought us German, too. Not a bad deal, even if German doesn't do great.

He has yet to go large and long on a pitcher, or trade anything of value for a solid one. That may (should) change, this winter.

The Sox farm went 3-1, again tonight. (14-2 the last 4 nights)

Woo 9-0 win: 3 hitter by 4 pitchers (Shugart 4, Feltman 2, DHern 1, Politi 2)

Castellanos 3-5 (.816 now), Fitzy 2-4 w 3 rbi (.740) and EValdez 1-3 w 2 BB & HR.

POR won 6-3: Wilyer Abreu drew his 100th BB and homered while going 2-3, Hamilton hit his 11th HR, Kavadas went 2-4 (.829 in AA) and Binelas also went 2-4 w a 2B (.583 in AA).

GRE won 8-0: 6 hitter. Yorke 3-5, Mayer 2-5 w 2B & 3B, Lugo 2-5, Hickey 2-5 w 9th HR.

SAL lost 6-3: Paulino 2-3 w 2B & BB, Bonaci 1-3 w BB

Could Niko Kavadas turn into a future starting DH for the Red Sox? The Red Sox offense has gotten away from a disciplined approach and Kavadas is a guy who takes pitches, gets walks, and has power. He can't field. He isn't going to be ready in 2023, but he could be ready in 2024.

Hickey is, too.

This guy Wilyer Abreu has 100 BBs, this season, and he's the second best guy we got in the Vaz trade (Enmanuel Valdez.)

I expect hickey, binelas and Kavadas to start next year in Portland.

I hope Rafeala and Koss start next year in Worcester.

Kavadas and Binelas are already at POR, but they likely will start there, next year.

I agree on Rafaela and Koss at AAA, but soxprospects had Rafaela starting in AA. I think all 5 end up in AAA, and one may see big league action, if needed.

We are starting to look solid at all farm levels, now. A lot of the Ben and DD prospects are graduating soon or have already been called up. I'm not sure how many will end up being significant contributors, but Casas is in the spotlight, now.

Ben & DD Guys

(Houck, Dalbec, Crawford- graduated)

Casas

Bello

2024?

Rafaela

Mata

TWard

Walter

Paulino

Murphy

Lugo

Bonaci

For 2023, we have a dilemma at shortstop!

Mayer is on the way, but still 2 years away!

If bogey stays through the end of his contract, this seems like a perfect handoff. Bogey’s contract expires and Mayer takes over.

However, if we have to add years to bogey’s deal or go out and sign a replacement for 5 years this could change things greatly.

Hang’em Chaim needs to figure this all out, while hopefully learning how to draft pitchers early and how to build a real bullpen.

There is zero dilemma. If and when Mayer is ready to play SS, they guy there can be moves to 2B, 3B or traded.
