I trust Bloom to know who is good, despite his whiffs on Richards and Perez (and Andriese.)

If you're going to whiff, relatively cheap one-year whiffs are the way to go. And all three of those did deliver some value.

I’ll take a wait, and see position to see how this all shakes out.

That's the smart way to do it. But it could be a long wait. So in the meantime we have to jabber about something. :)

With Tampa, Bloom did like to acquire former top prospects who just did not pan out for their original teams. Tyler Glasnow, Jake Bauers, Logan Morrison being some examples.

If this is the case, should we expect 2B/OF Shed Long to be on his radar?

Shed Long made my Father's Day this year:

The walk-off grand slam came off Tampa Bay reliever Diego Castillo, who was traded to Seattle the following month.

That's not the same as saying "we want no names". It just means that star power and Q factor won't be the driving forces...

I know I'll be disappointed when Fox doesn't do a biopic and live interview with one of our new players while the Yankees are batting in the next Sox-NY Sunday night game.

Either it's a high cost short term or it's a length that will be unpalatable. It's not likely, but more likely than the others.

Seager: injury risk

Kershaw: not leaving Dodgers

Bryant: does not fit a need

Freeman: same position as Sox #1 prospect who should premier this season

Ray: inconsistent career coming off career year

How did that #1 prospect work out at first base?  Freeman continues to perform while there have been 19 players at first base for us over 4+ years.

But was he wrong? The Sox top prospect that year did play 1b.

And if you’re going to gloat about the accuracy of your past posts, at least edit out Kris Bryant, who is currently struggling to stand upright but is still on the Rockies’ payroll…

Yeah, Bloom was wrong (again).  The WAR for the top prospect and all the other stiffs we've had at 1B over the last 4 plus years doesn't scratch the numbers Freeman has put up.  Hindsight is...worth nothing.

Isn’t that what you just used?
