Who seriously thought a week ago this thread was possible? Not me. First the Sox had to beat the Yankees--who most recently swept the Sox at Fenway--and their ace Cole. Then came the Rays, who were and are a tough out, which games 3 and 4 amply demonstrated, what with the best ERA in the AL regular season and the 2d most runs scored--to say nothing of having the home field advantage and not having to play in the wild card game on Tuesday.

Now, however, the table is turned. The Sox will be well rested by Friday. We can only hope not too rested, which was part of the Rockies problem in 2007 when the Sox swept them in the WS.

Whaddaya think?

Disregard this post and thread. Let's go with Yaz's.

This has been a fun ride. The playoffs are always a crapshoot in that baseball is very noisy to begin with, and going to short series only exacerbates that.

Houston if they advance is a serious challenge. Their pitching is excellent of course. The other big thing is they are the hardest team in the league to strike out, and the Red Sox were one of the worst teams in the league at fielding balls hit in play.

They can beat anybody if they get timely pitching and hitting. Not afraid of the stros even though they have had our number.

But we all want the White Sox so notin can take in a game…

That would require a live scouting report, sponsored by and for the board. But Cora would expect you to pay attention to details, not just they have better starters, we have better in-betweeners...

I agree we want the White Sox, but I think the Sox can beat the Astros because the Rays had a better record and better pitching. Plus the Sox had to play the Yankees 2 days before taking on the Rays.

So…. You’ll pass the hat for my ticket money? I’ll need three, preferably along the 1b line

Which is the OFFICIAL ALCS Thread?!?!??!?!?

Yaz started his first, and he started the Official ALDS thread, so I think we should differ to his thread.

See my OP at the top, I say Yaz's was started first and sent everyone there.

That said, Yaz's thread on the ALCS has been taken over by mvp 78 and others who no longer want to discuss the ALCS.

You are the most wrong poster here.

From the real ALCS thread:

As for the rest of the post, you guys really lost the plot here.

Will the real " official ALCS thread " please stand up .

In my OP I said go to Yaz's, but today, Oct 14, it seems to have been taken over by those who are no longer interested in the ALCS.

So maybe this thread is an option.

moonslav and I seem to have independently reached the conclusion that right now the Sox just might have the better pitching.

I think Eovaldi is better than McCullers, with or without the reported possible injury. The Astros won one game without McCullers when Valdez started, went 4.1, and gave up 4 runs vs. the Chisox. The Sox took 3 of 4 vs. the Rays with Eovaldi making one good start in game 3 and ERod in game 4.

I do think the Astros have a good lineup, but right now the Sox lineup is formidable with Schwarber, Kike, Devers, Bogey, Verdugo, JDM, Renfroe, Vazquez, and Arroyo--and a postseason team OPS of .919 against the Yankees and Rays.

I am frequently wrong, but allow me to quote one of your many off the wall posts in the really official ALCS thread: "Like Millar, I also drink whiskey before starting my job. That 10 key isn't going to sum itself."
