It seems like many teams near or over the limit (Yankees, Dodgers, Red Sox) that are normally quite active are standing part, probably because any new CBA is more likely to have repercussions with them…

The Mets would be the exception. Cot's has them at 223 mill already. If they add Scherzer at 42 mill, that's 265 mill! Steve Cohen ain't afraid of no CBA.

It’s some new territory for Cohen. He’ll dial back once he’s paid a few tax bills..

Cohen is the new Steinbrenner. Brash in the media, more money than god, and a true fan of the team he owns.

$42 mil over 3-4 years??!? For a 37 year old pitcher who couldn't go in an elimination game because his arm was sore?

Sounds like something the Yanks used to do.

Don't remind me. Cannot wait to field Simmons at SS for 55 games next year before his ankle explodes. Then have to play our playoff game with a AAAA guy who sucks ass. Yanks are going backwards here. The Jays just went all in. Ryu, Gausman, and Berrios is a tough 3 headed monster with Ray still in play. Semien is a loss, for sure, but that team can hit with or without him

He's got a net worth of around $15 billion, so maybe not...

There's still a lot of quality FAs left. Looking at the deals that were given out, there aren't any that I'd say the Yanks missed out on. Sure I'd like Scherzer but that price was crazy high. Correa is probably the best remaining player who fills the biggest need for the Yanks, but the guy is a douche. Maybe the Yanks can get Story on a cheaper deal and I'd be okay with that. Also Seiya Suzuki from Japan has an interesting profile and seems like he has a good chance for success in the MLB so I'd be cool with going after him, though corner OF isn't high on the list of needs. I'm sure Cashman will splurge on something, hopefully it's not a long term deal with Rizzo.

We have trouble with RH pitching. We have no good lefties. Gallo isn’t a good lefty. Hicks isn’t a good lefty. The rest of the team is f***ing right handed. Suzuki is right handed. Seager checks every f***ing box. Yeah, maybe he needs to move to 3b. So be it. He’s the best left handed bat on the market

I'd like the Yankees to get Seager but from what I'm reading it seems like a less than 10% chance he ends up with the Yanks. That being the case, I'd just like a capable shortstop who can also hit regardless of which side of the plate he stands on. Story fits that mold and theoretically shouldn't cost as much as everyone else. Lefties at other positions such as first base or OF are easier to come by. Joc Pederson could be had for pretty cheap. Or they could go big and sign Freddie Freeman. Point is that the SS doesn't have to be lefty.

The big boys have made zero major moves. Mets are the only ones who’ve added considerably. Yanks, Sox, Dodgers mostly pat. Strange. Makes me wonder if the MLB is going to make the CBA far more restrictive at the top

If you get Matt Olson, won’t he check a few boxes?

I have a sneaking suspicion that our target is actually a super villain in Correa.

I doubt it is Story, so he’s the only one left!

He's also not currently on the team, as in Cash hasnt secured a shortstop yet and the moratorium starts at midnight. Offseason fail already by f*** Hal

Could he settle on Story?
