Why do you think you are owed contritions (which isn't even a word)?

I'm not owed anything. I said I was more or less misguided for expecting others to own up.

You never said it, but you did and might still want him fired.

Yes, "hate" is a powerful word, so I apologize for using it.

You've roasted him alive, so I'm not sure it was wild exaggeration on my part, but I apologize for making an inference that may not be correct.

I just never would have hired him in the first place, or anyone else who was involved. Yes hate is a powerful word, and especially when it isn’t true. I like Cora, and I know the players like him, but I would like to see a little more fire out of him.

When a team goes from 98% playoff odds on 9/23 to 60% a week later, I think you can give a pass to posters complaining that the teams was sucking. In fact, they played like dogshit against the Yanks and struggled against the worst team in their division.

Well said, and that’s what most fans do especially when you go from one extreme to the other between the first half of the season, and the second half when to say they struggled would only be a mild exaggeration.

You seemed to really hold the cheating against him, and I misread that as hate or an intense dislike.

You have also said we should fire him.

Do you still think that way?

60% is still odds on making it, yet some totally wrote us off.

People have a right to be angry if they get swept at home by the Yankees (when they could have wrapped up the season) and then struggled vs the O's and showed very little fight.

There's nothing to "own up" for.

The last manager we had with fire was Bobby V. FranCOMA, Farrell (boring) and Cora are the only managers we ever had to bring home a title. None of those guys are Earl Weaver types. Maybe that kind of manager just doesn't work anymore.

I was angry, too. I never even hinted at the anger not being justified.

I'm talking about totally, 100% giving up on us having any chance at making the playoffs.

Look, I've admitted I was wrong in expecting a few poster to address those comments they made out of anger and frustration. I'm not asking anyone to own up. I was wrong.

I made a mistake to ask.

I was wrong.

It was a mistake to expect it.

I was wrong.

Can we move on?

Exactly.

Is there anyone with Earl's fire in MLB, today?

Bobby V was a clown show, and in a world all to himself.

I wouldn’t put Cora up there Tito. The league was a lot tougher back in Tito’s days, and I think about anyone could have managed that 2018 team. They were that good.

Who was the last Sox manager to have any fire aside from Bobby?

Not Jimy Williams. Maybe Kevin Kennedy?

Tito is in a tier all of his own. They should have never let him go. They let him leave because he "lost the team." Well, that team wasn't found the next season. They just had to churn over the roster. Tito would have won in 2013 for sure. He would have won in 2018 if he never left his office.

The SOX had to sweep the Nats on the road and they did. They now have home field 'advantage?' Everything before the Nats' series is now meaningless. Whatever happens on Tuesday night will not refute the fact that this SOX team achieved more than most of us expected back in late March and especially after being swept by the O's in the season opening series.

Go SOX!

Maybe Ralph Houck? That was a show to see him argue with the umps, and throw his hat. I’d just like to see Cora do that one time.

Btw, I believe one would have to go back to the late 90's Cleveland Guardians to see an offense as potent as Toronto's this season. If they had gotten to play half their season in front of their fans in Toronto, the standings may have ended quite differently, but them's the breaks.

I'm predicting the Jays will be the team to beat next year.

Well said, but I wasn’t one that didn’t think the Sox would be a good team this year. They had a pretty good 2-4 batting order, and was getting E Rod, and Sale back at sometime too. I didn’t count on 90+ wins, but I thought they would be pretty good. As for home field advantage as I wrote before I don’t think it exists especially against the Yankees who love to play in Fenway.Either way the Sox have a chance, and once your in ANYTHING’S POSSIBLE!

100% agree. The fact that Farrell won says it all.

People have been saying that for the past few years now. The Jays seem to always win the offseason and trade deadline, but have little to show for it.

Ain't Cora's way. Over time, I've come to think managers' tantrums, while understandable when a call against them was egregious, serve little purpose. I was not in favor of replays until I realized they minimized managers and players' tantrums and consequent lengthy game delays. I like that Cora maintains a steadying, focused perspective on what's happening on the field and what moves need (or don't need) to be made.

Big loss, if Semien bolts.

Ray, too.

Ray had a career low walk rate and BABIP. I wouldn't prioritize re-signing Ray on a large contract.

Why? Any idiot can jump up and down and throw his hat. Even in my old amateurish athlete days, when I saw a coach or manager do that, it never inspired me. In fact, it was embarrassing. And I doubt any professional athlete says, WOW, my manager threw his hat and kicked dirt; THEREFORE, I'm going to play harder.

I would not either, but it is still a big loss from the 2021 ledger.
