Schwarber doesn’t turn that DP in the first; he may not have fielded it at all.

Agree. Still too many talksoxers have yet to admit Dalbec has become a pretty decent firstbaseman.

Box score says the Yankees have yet to have an RISP.

Devers and Bogey--the third baseman and shortstop ignorant Sox fans love to hate because neither has won a gold glove (nor is likely to)--were the keys to the first run scored in the game.

Oh, they hate them without the gold gloves....

He can play LF at Fenway. He's better hitter than Verdugo facing a lefty.

True and true. Plus a great fielder is wasted in LF at Fenway.

Alright, already. I overstate to get attention.

Yankees now have 2 on, no outs in the 5th.

Here we go......death of E Rod....he'll blow up this inning....better take him out before they score multiple runs...

ERod’s got to be strong here. First adversity, not a situation he generally does not deal well with.

Here we go, implosion starting.

You guys are brutal.

Just saying what ERod has been this year. When he’s faced adversity, he has folded a lot.

That said, LaMahiu hit a pretty good pitch for that single.

Posted
That looked like a good changeup, but LeMahieu hit it hard. Yankees, now up 2-1, seem to have ERod figured out.

They are looking for that change up this inning. Vazquez isn’t smart enough to recognize it. Ortiz noticed it right away, LaMahieu didn’t even offer at a hittable fastball.

That low sinker looks awfully good. Indeed, one can make a case that the better ERod is at keeping the ball low, the harder it is on opposing hitters. That K was from 2 low pitches, a sinker and a changeup.

You're right, of course, but I see game threads as primarily reactive vs. thoughtful/analytical.

ERod got tagged plus the BB, but he did well to escape with 2 runs, plus 2 runs in 5 innings isn't half bad.

Meanwhile, however, it's an honest question to wonder if the Sox bats are ever going to come alive against the Yankees.

Dugo with a hitters opposite field single!!

Vazquez with his fav--another GIDP.

I would pinch hit for Vazquez, but also think he is good with the bullpen--better than Plawecki. That GIDP, however, really hurt, surrounded as it was by 3 hits.

Got to wonder how well Plawecki even is tonight. He had to be taken out after getting drilled yesterday.

Lets bring him back at $7M right Moon?

When you're the starter, you know what your team is doing. It's not about pitching a quality start. That does no good if you see zeros going up on your side of scoreboard.

He had a one run lead and gave up two. That's what mediocre pitchers do. He probably goes to bed pleased with himself if we lose 3-1.

You just described what aces do.

ERod is no ace. He’s a 3-4 at best.

Might have been the hardest hit ball the Sox have had tonight. Naturally it’s tight at LaMahieu. Damn.

Meh. Singles by Renfroe and and Kike were harder hit. Ball was hit to LeMaHieu's right and he still could field it cleanly.
