All kept pace but one less game to catch us.

Say what you want about ERod, but he keeps the game winnable.

Great pen, again.

Bogey redemption.

Dalbec steadying.

Defense gaining confidence.

One at a time, boys!

In 2018 it seemed that every move Cora made worked. It seems in the last couple of weeks that it's happening again. I'm all for it.

Yankees are wasting no time pitching their so called ace on friday.

Hopefully on Friday the SOX can make an ASS of the ACE. They've already done it once this season.

Lol, no doubt. The guy has been hittable. We shall see.

Lindor would be a hitting machine in Fenway and his glove is way better than X's

I wouldn't go that far. I know it's only year one but that contract is already looking bad. I don't understand why you'd give a guy 340 million who can't produce an OPS of 900 or even close to it. His defense doesn't make up for his offense.

I guess plus D at SS is worth more than many think it is.

.340 OBP and 35 HRs a year might make .850 look more like .900.

I'm serious when I say that if the SOX make the PO's I'll miss Iggy more than if it was JD who couldn't qualify.

Everybody loves the hot hand.

Xander's OPS is a mere 160 points higher. Who needs that?

Since when is he a 35HR type player? Just because he's done it once it doesn't mean he's going to do it again. His 162 game Avg is 28HR

The game threaders were an ornery bunch until the Sox put this one away LOL

Do you actually go back and read these after the fact?

I don’t here. But I do with the oilers board. They are entertaining lol

These threads are just depressing for the most part lol.

I went by 2016-2018 average (103 HRs in 3 years).

I don't count a player's first few seasons as projection tools for who they will be or are now.

Why is Lindor struggling?

1. Increased k rate

2. Career low line drive rate

3. Career high weak contact %

4. -7 runs on pitches in the heart of the plate

5. Career low contact rate on pitches in the zone

6. Career low on contact rate for pitches out of the zone

7. Career high whiff %

I learned the following after reading this thread:

ERod is balless and spineless.

Brasier should not throw his best pitch.

Been busy with work and studying for CPA exams. Nothing personal ;)

CPA's are grist for our financial and economic mill--more necessary, even in our litigious society, than lawyers. My son-in-law is one.

In any case, kudos for staying focused on what's important.

Not attacking the zone and nibbling isn’t as fixable.

He attacks the outside the zone fringes.

He's become pretty successful doing that- much better than earlier in his career, where he barely made it past the 4th inning.

The guy is a winner. he keeps the team in games more than almost anyone else.

He also bears down with men on base and gets out of many jams.

He missed 2020 with serious COVID issues and struggle out of the gate.

Over the last 14 starts, he has a 3.97 ERA and a 3.29 FIP, despite having a horrific defense behind him and a .344 BAbip in this time frame. He's at 3.64/3.41 over his last 9 starts

I agree, it does not seem like he will ever get past his "nibbler" tendencies, but it works for him and the team.

He's made a lot of good moves all season long, especially with the bullpen. Last night his timing with ERod and Brasier was exquisite--and greatly helped by that terrific throw and outfield assist by Kike. He's also been pretty good with his lineups, substitutions, and pinch-hitters.

His lineups have been tested by the simple fact that his best hitting lineups have not been all that great on defense, which has in turn undercut the pitching. Right now with Kike in CF (where he belongs) and Iglesias at 2b and a very much improved Dalbec at 1b, he has probably the best defense he's had all season.

Plus, Devers seems to be coming out of his fielding funk. Bogey looks 100% healthy, too.

He better be as good as God, 10 yr $341M....doubtful Jesus ever made that kind of money.

Well, that is another topic. IMO Lindor is a better SS than XB.
