Nah. You don’t waste that on Jose Iglesias.

In the good old days of baseball, when a batter hit a HR, the pitcher just threw at the next batter, no matter who it was. That did look intentional to me.

I remember. I’m 62 (oops, make that 63 now). But they don’t do it any more.

I should get some sleep to prepare for the three-hour drive to Wednesday's rubber match of the three-game series (and the season series).

SOX trying to provide drama and doing a good job of it. Where's Dick Radatz when you need him?

The Monster. Mickey Mantle was once asked "who was the toughest pitcher you ever faced?" Mickey's answer "Dick Radatz. I knew he was going to throw me fastballs and I still couldn't hit them."

One of the best baseball 'bloopers' I'd ever seen was the flyball that came down and hit the top of Canseco's head and bounced over the fence for a HR.

I don't think anything can top that one.

Good move by Cora to pinch hit lefty Shaw for righty Dalbec last night. Also, despite his mini-slump (5 games, 0 for 16, 9 K's), pinch-hitting Schwarber for Plawecki.

The headline on my mlb.com app--Red Sox news--goes "Schwarber, Sox forge 3-way Wild Card tie." It's September 15th, 147 games into the 2021 season, and the Sox, who were supposed to go nowhere this year, are still very much in it.

Dalbec's HR last night gave him 30 for his career. He's done it in 143 games, which makes him the 3rd fastest to reach 30 in SOX history. Only Walt Dropo and Tony C. did it in fewer games, 121 and 131, respectively. Btw, Teddy Ballgame reached 30 in his 144th game.

The kid has really turned things around.

He should be a testament to those posters who keep believing players almost always repeat what they have done in their prior 20, 50, 200 or 500 PAs.

His career numbers- project to this over 650 PAs...

.246 33 115

.817 OPS (112 OPS+)

Not bad for any player's first 500 PAs in MLB.

His minor league numbers per 650 PAs

.261 32 102

.867 OPS

The major difference has been his OBP:

.308 MLB

.362 MiLB

SLG

.509 MLB

.505 MiLB

500 PAs is a lot.

Let's face it, Dalbec turned it around in the nick of time, just before the team was ready to give up on him too.

And you can't really blame posters for giving up on Cordero or Marwin or Santana...

Moon, you and your numbers. You are truly amazing. Btw, anytime a player tops Ted Williams in any SOX offensive stat is truly noteworthy.

I don't. I gave up on them, too, and their sample sizes weren't 350-400- the point where Dalbec turned it around.

Santana, at least, had some history. Marwin's was garbage can- enhanced. Cordero's was small and scattered.

Let's not forget Renfroe was at .485 on May 1st after 68 PAs. He was still at .619 after 148 PAs- a sample size greater than Santana and Cordero.

Also, Santana is at .786 since July 1st (47 PAs).

(BTW, in small sample sizes, Marwin is at .717 and Chavis is at .955. after leaving here.)

Ted: 156 WRC+, 1045 OPS, 131 Runs, 145 RBI, 185 Hits

Dalbec: 115 WRC+, 817 OPS, 58 Runs, 72 RBI, 111 Hits, 3x lower bb rate and 5x higher k rate

Having 1 extra HR while being 5 years older doesn't really get me that excited...
