Well, I said I wouldn't make a game thread this year again, but give me a chance here lol.

E Rod has been fantastic in his last 6 starts. He has gone:

33 innings with 10 earned runs ERA of 2.73

His last start against Tampa he went 6 scoreless innings. He has really turned his season around, and been incredible for us lately. I think we have a good chance with him tonight.

You are just the right guy to start this thread and remind us of ERod's recent outings. I've hammered him for most of the season, but lately he's been astounding.

Kike reportedly could play tonight, which could really help the outfield--assuming Cora goes with Iglesias at SS and Arauz at 2b. I'd sit Dalbec and get Schwarber's bat in the lineup by putting him back at 1b with JDM as DH.

So I like the starter and the lineup (sight unseen), but at this point am terrified of our bullpen.

Well said! The offense has been playing just fine, and if E Rod keeps playing the way he has, we have a very good shot to win this..... but this bullpen is very tired lately and has not played good at all.... I hope E Rod can go 6 at least tonight, and the offense can put up 6 plus runs. Something tells me we will need it.

So much for lights out. Two hard hit doubles back to back in the 2d inning. Followed by a hard hit single. Looks like batting practice--first time through the Rays batting order.

Frankly I can’t wait for the day when this guy is no longer in a red sox jersey. Too up and down.

Looks like a repeat of yesterday's game--same weak pitching and weak defense--but without the good hitting.

But it's early. Devers, Renfroe, and Verdugo are going to make Rasmussen wish he never came came to Fenway.

Radio guys are all over the Sox D; they are mincing no words.

Per their remarks, Verdugo should have caught the first double, Vazquez had Margot dead to rights at 3rd but didn’t realize he wasn’t coming home and Renfroe would have had a difficult catch but could have gotten the triple.

Renfro is a classic Fenway RH hitter. The RF foul line is a freaking no man's land . They really out to rework that seating to prevent possible injury to the players racing towards the line.

not Verdugo, tonight nor ever

Similar to the 2018 SOX the Rays are both good and lucky. As of late the SOX are neither.

Not seeing a lot of luck with the Rays. Solid pitching, solid defense, and the most runs scored in MLB. Bad luck to have to play half your games in the Trop, but apparently the players like it. It's nice and quiet.

I figure Cora will let ERod keep pitching until at least 7 Rays runs score--and why not? No bullpen. Sox can't hit with RISP. Not much improvement in the defense.
