August was a bust,

Big win last night that needed the best efforts of Sale, Whitlock, and Ottavino.

 

Tonight it's ERod, who has pitched well in 4 of his last 5 games. 3 weeks ago in Boston he went 5.1 innings against the Rays, giving up 4 hits and 2 runs while getting 8 K's.

 

Lotta guys out, mostly from covid--and including relievers Sawamura, Taylor, Barnes, Perez, Hernandez, and Rios.

McClanahan can give up a lot of hard contact (bottom 5% in the league). He throws a hard FB, but he gets most of his whiffs on his CB and SL. The bottom of the order probably wont stand a chance tonight.

First two games in this series were awful in part because Cora held back his best relievers. Now the Sox just might split at Tampa, where the Rays, best team in the AL, have been tough.
