Exactly. Too many people seem to think the #5 guy is going to win 75% of his starts and pitch to a sub 3 ERA. A team will do well if their #5 goes around .500 with an ERA in the mid to upper 4s.

 

As I’ve said, any pitcher in the majors CAN shut down any other team. It’s how often they can do it. A #5 isn’t going to do it very often, but they will do it once in a while.

 

Privetta is what he is, a 4-5 starter.

I never realized just how much of a team player Pivetta is. He saw last night's game, how much the bullpen is struggling, and took it upon himself to put this game out of reach before Cora can bring a reliever in.
