Moving to a new team after 2022 is currently just an option Bogaerts has. Moving him to a new position for 2022 probably seals that decision for him…

100% they'd trade him before moving him to 3B or 2B.

That shouldn’t be a factor. A team shouldn’t build their major league roster around their minor prospects.

If Devers’ is viewed as a good first baseman but an insufficient third baseman and his future is better at 1st, then the Sox will have to find a way to deal with the depth problem.

I doubt Devers is moved to first, and I doubt Casas has anything to do with that decision…

If Casas isn't ready by 2022, which he very well may not be, then one can DH in 2023.

If JD opts out, there is no issue.

You've wanted him at 1b since 2018, so I'm not sure you get a say.

After April, I had all but made my mind up that Devers should not stay at 3B.

Now, I'm not so sure.

How long should it take to fix a footwork/throwing problem?

MLBTR rates a QO going to ERod as "likely."

Your thoughts?

Sounds reasonable. I'm not sure if he will take it.

Or would allow us to sign a different guy who was QO'd.

But can ERod be adequately replaced for the cost of the QO?

Available:

Kershaw

Max

Stroman (no QO?)

Gausman (no QO)

Kikuchi

Syndergaard

Paxton

Ray

Desclafani

Not sure which guys could get QO's. Some of the above could be better than ERod. Some slightly worse.

You could take that money, add some to it and get better.

Certainly possible.

Noah Syndergaard is rehabbing soon. He’s better than ERod at pitching and at getting injured..

I'd say no to both.

Think of all the viking helmets this ownership group could sell...

On that list, Scherzer, Gausman, and Stroman are ineligible for a Qualifying Offer…

And there's no way Paxton gets a QO. The others vary from probably to maybe.

Hopefully there’s no way Paxton gets an offer from Boston, too…

Close call with ERod.

His health over the rest of the season may determine if we offer one.

I'm not going to say "no matter what," but if there's a minor injury from here on out, they'll still offer the QO.

If he takes it, it's only 1 year, so yes.

Do you want him to take it?

Sure. You offer it because you want them to take it. You don't offer it for the comp pick IMO.

I'm sure many teams are happy with either one.

(PLus, I asked if you want him to take it- not Bloom & Co.)
