Good job, Moon, but in Thunder's defense, he really didn't have much of a chance with Richards starting a 7 inning game.

Indeed.

Richards should be traded with cash for nothing.

Ya know, Moon, with these goofy 7 inning games the SOX could have done a BP start in the 1st game. Could of, should of; obviously it doesn't matter now.

Also, I have no clue why anyone would think Garrett would be helpful in the BP. To get rid of him the SOX would probably have to add a prospect in the deal, even if it's for a bag of balls and still the SOX would probably have to eat part of his contract.

Well, if the Yankems win, the SOX have a 2.5 game lead. So, there's that.

I was hoping that the Yankees would lose considering we still play 10 games with the rays while just have 6 with the Yankees the rest of the way. Sox control their destiny in terms of the division title. Seems like the Yankees have figure out the rays. The rays can’t hit a lick against the Yankees.

Looking at the MLB standings, run differential aligns with the top teams in every division except for the AL East and the NL Least.

The Sox can create a little distance if the Yankees sweep the rays. They have 3 games at tampa coming up after this series.

In fact, Toronto, who are 10.5 games behind the SOX and barely over .500, have almost a 20 run higher differential. Obviously, a meaningless stat.

But somewhere in Fenway Park the ghost of Rod Serling is whistling the theme to The Twilight Zone.

Well i got it wrong they have 13 games remaining with the rays. 9 with the orioles, 6 with the Yankees and 4 with the Jays.

Thunder got us two huge wins. First game today was mission impossible.

Tonight's win was key because ERod is on the mound tomorrow--against Ryu (9-5, ERA 3.44).

I found it fascinating that Duran hit a lot better against a lefty than Dalbec did.

Max, do you still believe he doesn't score the other day when we were discussing the PR thing vs NYY? lol

This kid flies!

Super fast. Very exciting to watch him run.

A few reasons for this. They feast on poor pitching/ s*** teams but get shut down when they play good teams. Also , now that they are returning to their home part, their numbers are going to drop some. They benefited a lot from that dunedin park with the wind blowing out.

Iortiz,

Agree Duran is fast and was spectacular last night. He is the only Sox player who could have scored on that liner to the corner and slight misplay last night. They had one replay that showed him running all the way around the bases and it was stunning.

However, the numbers say that his top speed is only very slightly better than Dalbec's, and Dalbec was out by a bunch. Dalbec was trying to score from 2b on a grounder that the SS fielded cleanly.

Duran, age 24, reminds me of another 24 year old, Dave Sime, who ran the 100M for the USA in the 1960 Rome Olympics and won the silver medal, losing in a photo finish. He also played collegiate baseball at Duke University and was later an ophthalmologist and became an expert in intraocular lens transplants. Duran is 6'2" and Sime was 6'3".

I was overseas (between terms at college) in the summer of 1960 and couldn't watch the Olympics on TV, but I did get Sports Illustrated, which back then was a great magazine for both pictures and writing (Frank Deford was on the staff). Their coverage of the Rome Olympics was obviously unforgettable.

I do respect your opinion Max, and thanks for sharing these memories.
