A ship is sinking in stormy seas. A few survivors drift in lifeboats. A rescue ship arrives to save them . They gratefully climb aboard . Next thing you know, the " survivors " want to take over the rescue ship. Moral: Sometimes it's better to just let them drift away.

The TalkSox army had held off invading hordes before, but it wasn't meant to be this time.

I remember there was an alternative site when Boston.com went down, a few went there, a few more came here and I think eventually mostly everyone game here.

I just went over, they're still posting over there.....all 1 guy.

Is he someone that should be recruited or has he gone feral posting only to himself for the past 5 years?

A cruel but beautiful heiress mocks and cheats a hired carpenter. When she gets amnesia after an accident, he decides to convince her they're husband and wife.

Yeah, I don't think Hitchcock would have signed off on the mini-golf ending.

The whole premise could be a horror movie, but instead it was directed by the guy who did Princess Diaries, Runaway Bride and had Fonzie jump a shark.

quick to sling mud, calling moon a douche-bag unsolicited and now I'm a jerk? Oh no..I bet you were the guy who tried stealing kids lunch menu and shoved them in lockers back in highschool. Stop acting like a bully.

If Anyone is a D-Bag my money is on the guy who quotes himself and self proclaims himself the king of an internet chat forum. Loser. Don't talk to me.

I guess you can’t figure out how to use the ignore feature. Not surprising. Life is probably very difficult for you.

Guys like you want to throw out the insults and expect no retaliation. That’s why you are a douche bag.

Criticizing positions are not personal insults.

Calling someone a D-Bag or worse for saying your position is silly or illogical is what you have mastered.

Calling someone a clown and arrogant and elitist among other things is criticism of a position? Laughably disingenuous.

I came over with all you Boston.com good folks many years ago and took a several-year hiatus from posting. I do remember encountering he who shall not be named back then and he reminded me of a guy we had over at the other site called SOFTLAW. I know Moon would remember that guy. Everyone loves to argue, but some people just can't seem to do so without being insulting to other people. If I'm going back and forth with someone in here with an argument, odds are I like that poster value their opinions and enjoy the discourse. I just don't have any patience for people who are blatantly looking for trouble.

With a separate Boston.com thread, Softlaw attacked this poster for suggesting that Will Middlebrooks might need more time in the minors despite an encouraging MLB debut.

Yes, I have called people names. A lot of times, it was you. I admit that and regret it. You don't.

I have never done that over someone criticizing my position on something, and as far as I know, always after being personally insulted first.

You make personal insults very very often over just a criticism of a position you hold.

I admit I push buttons when criticizing some positions I consider silly or outlandish. Maybe that warrants personal insults hurled my way.

That doesn't take away from the fact that you are the master of hurling personal insults. That does not imply others don't do it, including myself, but you are the king.

Yes, both bear responsibility. I'm glad you saw the light.

You honestly think Cora is doing or trying nothing or maybe just not doing enough? He's just "letting it happen?"

Like if he spent 24/7 with these guys on D, they'd be any better?

These guys suck on D. They always have. It might take years to turn them into just average.

Just blame Bloom. You are much better at that.

You say:

You really are a dimwit.

I'm sorry that Softlaw treated Hugh in this manner. Unforgivable.

I remember softlaw very well. I think I agreed with him on 2 issues over the years and years we both were on that site.

He threw a lot of insults and was big on saying everyone was a Theo apologist. I guess he was right on that, since we had to continually defend Theo against his Theo-bashing.

Was he the guy who also said "pink hats" and "pink glasses" all the time?

Seems like a pretty cool guy.

From the TS archives prior to the 2013 season:

Tito was paid about 10 million and produced zero playoff wins and one playoff team in his last 3 years. All he does is blame his failures on ownership. Patheitc, frankly, and I was not a Tito basher during the last 3 disaster years of his tenure.

If Duquette hadn't set the table, Tito would produce about as bad as he'll be with the Guardians. He will be fired after a very short tenure with the Guardians. The first year will allow him the "youth" excuse. The following year will test the patience of the Guardians. The third year they will have had enough of this guy who takes L and R in a batting order without regard to recent splits history and fails to move runners up in situations where percentages scream for it because he believes in swinging away almost every time. His players will not be in shape, nor will they show up ready for hard work. He tries to be a sugar daddy to get players to perform. Manny was a hard worker, which the public doesn't know. It was Schilling and the combination of Manny and Ortiz that was the reason for reaching critical mass on championships, not Tito. Great managers, like LaRussa, can win with different organizations.

Farrell is an improvement, but the Red Sox have never even attempted to replace a large fraction of what Manny brought to the table and Ortiz is washed up as a full season producer. Middlebrooks is a solid 5 or 6 hitter, but the Red Sox are truly a joke in 3 and 4 lineup spots in a ballpark that requires elite hitting to be proficient in the 81 games in Fenway. Most teams are going to hit in Fenway, so in 2/3 or moe of these game the roster consturction must be able to out produce other teams, against visiting good pitching. Not the case, for 2013.

The incompetence of the Crawbust contract cost AGon. Now, borken down platoon guy Napoli can't provide the overall defense or season long production that 1st base requires. The best they can do is use minor league contracts for Sweeney and/or Kotchman. I favor Kotchman, because he is an excellent defender at 1st. Neither can hit, though Kotchman is capable of a decent OBP. The Red Sox need to use AAA for OF depth and go with 4 OF'ers. The emergency smallest corner OF OF'er should be the Ciriaco, who absolutely should be on the active 25 man roster. The Red Sox OF is a mess.

Nothing made up about it. What is made up is the notion that the Red Sox couldn't have sent better garbage trade package and acuqired J. Upton with a 5 year extesnion at about base 17M a year that would have captured the best available young OF MLB talent from age 25 to age 32, which will be his best years.

You must be Cherry. Nice going, nearly 30 million for Shane and Ellsbury and Gomes. Crawford and Ellsbury for nearly 30 million in 2012 is a tough act of incomptence to follow. But you seem to have done it.

Shane, an old man at age 33, has been thrown in 2 dumpsters before the Red Sox gave him a shocking windfall. He hasn't stolen 30 bases since 2010, and is in full decline. It will be embarrassing to watch this guy paid 13 million a year for 3 years.

Sea, miss you over at BDC Boston Globe. That place is down to about 2 or 3 propaganda posters, lead by that big phony, Moonslavic.

Welp, I guess you can't be right about everything!

There is so much untrue and disingenuous in this post. I don’t ever recall any expression of regret from you for personal insults. You have often been the first one to resort to insults in your exchanges with me. Fairly recently we were disagreeing about issues and after going in a circle as our discussions often do, I said that you would disagree with anything I say because you just don’t like me. In response to that, you launched into a lengthy post insulting me and attacking me personally. Maybe you are suffering from dementia and don’t remember the insults on that day and several other occasions where you threw the first stone. I do remember. You are right about one thing in your post. I am the master at hurling personal insults, but only those who truly deserve it, who have insulted me first or engaged in undue mockery are on the receiving end. So, Mindreader Moon, I have your number. I don’t hate you. I have never met you and you are probably a good person on balance, but you do hate me. That’s too bad for you.

Totally false. It was always you who insulted me first. 100%.

You think calling a position insane, dumb or silly is a personal insult. It's not.

Whenever he agreed with me, which was maybe twice, I always reanalyzed my position.

One point he agreed with me on, which turned out to be one of the most posted thread in BDC history, was my "No Manny- No Rings" thread.

Yeah, I know right? Who could disagree on the essentiality of Manny?

There is some merit in examining every Theo move after the Nomar trade in 2007 and thinking the overall grade was NOT a C+ or better.

I was nearing 100K posts on BDC.

Rumors were they shut down the site because of Y2K type concerns with their system crashing had I reached 100,000.
