Ghost is the only poster I've ever seen who needs to be banned for stupidity.

You almost have to wonder if someone is really that stupid? or if he's an alias for another poster in here who just enjoys trolling people.

No, Ghost seems to be just Ghost. We did figure out that he was banned previously under the screen name 'Natick to NC'.

I’ll settle on Bob being demoted to high A ball

I disagree, he'd be behind Joe Davis on the depth chart in Greenville. Send him to Salem instead.

Granberg and joe Davis have not stopped hitting since being promoted!

I would love to see granberg at triple a this year. His swing is so smooth and he makes lots of contact!

He's not worse than Cordero though.

Which one has the higher trade value? Or which player best augments a potential trade package this offseason?

Probably Dalbec, based on remaining years of control. That he can also play 3b probably helps, since playing 1b isn’t the most sought after skill…

Speaking of promotions.... I was at the game last night in Salem expecting to see Blaze get in the lineup. Never even spotted the kid. Does anyone have details on this. And furthermore the Manager in Salem seems lost. Up 9-0 in the 7th, he left this poor kid in there to allow 7 runs and even brought him back out for the next inning and was only saved from giving up another big inning with a great play at SS to turn the double play with 2 on! The guy doesn't move runners with speedy guys, he keeps the same guys in the lineup game after game that have averages under 200.

You have to remember the real purpose of the minor leagues is not to win but to develop players for the major league team; winning is a by-product.

To that end, minor league managers are often told who they will play and how much.

So perhaps the organization wants that kid pitcher to develop another pitch. That may be the reason he was sent out there long enough to allow 7 runs.

One of my favorite things to do when I go to my local minor league team’s games (it’s a low A league, currently they are a Royals affiliate but were an Astros one for many years) is to try and pick out the 1 or 2 players on each team that might make the majors. That’s really all there are on each team at that level. Obviously the numbers go up as you climb higher.

Plus his versatility at SS!

Exactly.

Not sure how the current mangement works, but the philosophy used to involve things like telling pitchers “work on your slider, so no fastballs this inning.” And often that results in big innings while that slider is a work in progress…

Win loss record doesn’t matter in MiLB.

I heard that you can no longer promote AA guys directly to MLB, that they have to go to AAA first. If so, maybe Casas is sent to WOO after the Olympics.

Well, I'm not really sure who you can throw in there, they only have a few guys on their bench and 1/2 of them are catchers. In low A, I don't think they care as much about stat lines as much as they do about getting the guys they deem to have a higher potential of future impact playing time to develop. Tyler McDonough who is a recent draftee will start getting some playing time, and the rest of the lineup is either studs or past high picks. Lugo, Jordan, Yorke, Decker, and Jimenez are names that seem to fit that mold.

I never heard that and it seems like a really stupid rule to implement. So I suppose Manfred might have done it…

I think he spends the year in Portland. He's still very young for the level and skipped high A. And while he didn't exactly struggle this year he's been a little lackluster. His 6 HR's in 192 PA's aren't horrible but not exactly lighting the world on fire for a guy who's a bat first 1B profile. Some of those have come recently, and I feel the Sox are going to want to give a young guy sustained success even if he starts lighting AA on fire this year.

That he has 40 strikeouts in 192 PA vs AA pitching is probably a factor as well.

His .323 BABIP is potentially sustainable, but so far has only helped him to a .271 BA and a .777 OPS. Not exactly numbers that scream “definite improvement over Dalbec”

It's just ridiculous to even talk about Casas coming up right now. Lets see what he's doing next spring.

Ban him please mods.

It is sometimes surprising how many responses there are to the Ghost's over the top , obviously intentionally outrageous posts. But unless he gets personal or political , I don't see a reason to ban him. It's all part of the fun and it does give some folks a chance to show how super serious and knowledgeable they are by body slamming him . Or , he can simply be ignored. Sometimes we let too many things bother us.

He keeps starting threads that say the same thing. It's incredibly annoying.

However, we don't have any mods here so what can you do.

Ignore him. You have the tools in front of you.

Not everyone uses these boards for serious discussions. Maybe he just uses them to vent off about stuff that he just can’t say in public without getting ridiculed.

As Denny says, unless he gets personal or political, he’s not really a problem.

Plus he seems to take a lot of abuse without whining too much.
