That's debatable. But I think we can all agree that "ugly" wins are better than not winning at all

I'll agree with that, Thunder, but I believe 'ugly win' is an oxymoron. Similar to 'beautiful loss.'

In Dalbec's defense, the Sox management have kind of taken a young, inexperienced kid and thrown him into lion's den. He's just 25 years old, and they expect him to be able to hit fastballs over 93 mph. He's a thirdbaseman, and they're making him play first base, a far more difficult position.

Is first really more difficult than third base? If so, it does seem odd that MLB history is full of first basemen who started out at third base but had to be moved because of their defense at the hit corner. Vlad Guerrero Jr. and Miguel Sano are recent examples...

Maybe Cordero will be amazing from here on. He had a nice game

He’ll have his hot streaks...

How long before someone says to get Pujols for first base?

Also another example of a third baseman who could hit but not play third base...

I don't disagree. Never been a fan of moral victories or participation trophies

An “ugly win” is still a win; a “moral victory” is a loss....

As the eminently quotable Danny Ozark once said, when asked about the state of team morale: "Morality at this point isn't a factor."

Crazy game. We go into the Mets park and beat DeGrom 1-0. Back in Fenway our pitchers get treated like Charlie Brown by the lowly Tigers for 3 straight games.

Momentum is only as good as the next day's relievers

Negative value for past 5 years.

Wasn't he negative value starting year 2 of his deal? (In terms of value vs contract cost)

Kinda like the saying, "Your starter is only as good as his last start."

SOX have had good timing playing the O's. They missed Means in their last series with the O's.

Well he got us when it mattered the most. Caused most of y'all to go into a spiral

We suffered more than we should. Probably Tigers’ bats just woke up, who knows, but regardless, our pitching collapsed in this series.

This same Detroit team also had its moments and opportunities vs NY.

The bottom line is still saying that we still hold the best record and offense in baseball, which not even the most optimistic expected at this point.

Not according to his accountant...

According to the Angels accountant, it’s been bad from day one.

One has to take into account which account the accountant is accounting for.

And no, I do not want Pujols playing for the SOX.

Yup! Ugly wins are still good wins regardless.

Pujols does have an OPS (.622) almost 120 points higher than Dalbec (.507).

Like him or not, he is an improvement and would be available for a pro-rated portion of the league minimum. I wouldn't find it terribly surprising if the Sox gave him a shot, as the risk couldn't be less. If he flounders like he has recently (3 for his last 23), he could be jettisoned by the Sox and at most cost them only $400,000 or so...

His best OPS in the past 5 years is 734. Dalbec has a career 727 OPS. Dalbec has the upside, Pujols does not.

The "improvement" is based on the supposition that Pujols will continue to outhit Dalbec or any in house replacement for him (Chavis/Marwin/Casas/Ockimey).

I wouldn't take Pujols if the Angels paid all but min, wage.
