If we can hold the Mets to 1 run like we did last night, we have a shot.

Also, I think we did OK against DeGrom last time we faced him.

I will repeat: We have already beaten Glasnow, Ryu, and Giolito this season. Baseball is a funny game sometimes. We are also a good team. Let's not forget about that

We can’t possibly beat this guy........

Can we???

DeGrom has started 4 games, and the Mets lost 2 of them. DeGrom was the losing pitcher in one of those games.

The Mets have great pitching, but abysmal hitting--fewest runs scored in MLB. They've scored 57 and the next worst (A's) have scored 67.

Well the Mets have also played less games than everybody else due to the Nationals COVID issues on Opening Weekend, so keep that in mind

If the bats are hot, Sox can beat up on any pitcher.

Good pitching always tops good hitting. That said, I am astounded by the Sox hitting so far this year. And, as we saw again last night, the pitching ain't too shabby either.

Unless the analytics dept. takes him out before he faces batters a third time!

But good hitters do love to face good pitchers who throw strikes, because they know they'll get more hittable pitches... unless the guy has an unhittable pitch: blazer that moves up and in, change-up that dives down and out, swooping slurve released from a Sale/Houck lefty/righty angle, etc.

Think it just boils down to how Pivetta plays today. He looked so awesome before the 6th inning when he got over excited and had a melt down. Hoping he plays well and gives us 6 solid innings.

I thought are hitting would be our clear strength and maybe be top 5 or 6, but more likely top 7-10.

We are being led by 4 guys with 2-3 others doing okay. One other thing to take into consideration is the fact that the whole league is hitting poorly, so while guys like Cordero, Renfroe and Plawecki look awful, but within the context of how poorly the bottom third or half of all hitters are doing, it's not as horrific as it seems.

If those guys start showing life, watch out!

Another point I brought up on another thread concerns the idea that the Sox are wildly outperforming expectations on offense. Even JD is not really outhitting his expected range by more than 100 points. He's at 1.145, which is not all that far from 1.066 and 1.031- numbers he's put up since 2017. Verdugo .908, Bogey .949 and Devers .910 are all within expectations.

Arroyo's .771 seems like an outlier, but he did hit .736, last year.

Kike's .728 is just about midrange.

Vaz had a .798 OPS from 2019-2020. He's over a 100 below that (.665).

Marwin .648, Renfroe .545, Cordero .499 and Plawecki .471 are all way below any expectations.

Dalbec was the great unknown and is at .696, but has hit .924 his last 12 games.

Nothing really shocking from our offense, IMO.

What's shocking is how badly everyone else is doing.

It seems that way, but I wonder if the numbers back it up.

I'm not prepared or willing to take on that data dive!

I know we were the closest team to have Mo's number.

WHIP vs Sox: 1.246 (under 1.000 vs rest of league)

ERA: 2.86 (under 2.20 vs rest of league)

He likes it warm- not hot or cold outside.

At least the SOX have their best line-up available for tonight's game.

Well, other than that #9 slot... Damn interleague

Gonzalez>Arroyo?

(I'm not complaining.)

Good to see no Renfroe or Cordero.

The combo of Cordero and Pivetta would be 6 easy Ks for deGrom. Vazquez has been trending toward an automatic out recently as well, but many feel like he's about to get hot.

I’d put Arroyo and I’d concur.
