RHP Lucas Giolito (1-0, 2.55) vs RHP Nathan Eovaldi (2-1, 2.08)

Come back and earn a split.

If we can’t beat them with Evo, I’m going to seriously question the team.

White Sox were picked by many to go to the World Series (or lose to the Yankees along the way). A split against them would be great. Even 3 out of 4 wouldn't be terrible, based on our ceiling for 2021.

Updated standings after about a tenth of the season...

10-6 BOS

10-6 SEA

9-5 KCR

8-5 LAA

9-7 OAK

8-7 CLE

8-8 TBR & CWS

7-8 HOU

7-9 TEX, TOR & BAL

6-8 MN

6-10 DET

5-10 NYY

Almost as nice as us being tied for the best AL record is the fact that the Yanks have 14 teams ahead of them in the AL.

I'd be happy with a split for sure.

Some posters may have overrated the AL East, but through these first few weeks, the Central looks loaded: the White Sox and Twins are legit: good starters, better relievers, and talented, young regulars. Cleveland has really good pitching, KC has decent pitching and hitting (so far). Detroit has pitching potential.

Twins were really good last year and the ChiSox are loaded with talent and are the perennial up and coming team. Those two teams surely feel like playoff teams. If the Yankees can't pull out of their nosedive, my guess is maybe only one team gets out of the East.

If Xander goes down, this team is screwed.

Even if we lose today, we would still be 4-4 against those two (Twins and ChiSox). That's better than I would have imagined. At the end of the day, you have to take advantage of the division, since you play the most games against them. Right now we are 6-3 against the AL East, with a big 2 game set looming with Toronto. Wish we could play the Yankees now. Don't play them at all until the beginning of June. How often has that happened?

I'm not a big believer in the Jays just because of their pitching. Aside from Ryu, that's a team you can score on. Maybe the Yankees are just a media driven paper tiger? Time will have to tell.

Matz has been really good for them so far (and my fantasy team) but we won't see him this week. Their bullpen is also banged up right now. Closer Ken Giles is out for the year after having TJS. They were doing a closer by committee to start the year, but at the moment, their top 2 choices to close games (Merryweather and Romano) are on the IL. Merryweather is out a few months, but Romano should return as soon as he is eligible

Not to mention their offense is inconsistent too

Yeah we could use some early leads. Can't be the comeback kids forever, as this weekend has shown

This is a much better start offensively

2-1!

Best day of weather we've had at Fenway so far this year. Wonder if that makes a difference
