8 runs in 5 games on the homestand. 1-4 record in those games, and if you ask me that 1 win was lucky. Braves bullpen decided to choke and stop throwing strikes

MLB2N was suggesting a mid-season acquisiton of Anthony Rizzo made sense for the Yankees.

The problem is, until things turn around, why would they consider buying?

And why would the Cubs be selling?

And why would the Cubs be selling?

I think the anticipation is they will be out of it even in the very weak NL Central, and as they have too many very key players in option years (Rizzo, Bryant, Baez), they figure to not retain them all.

Rizzo seems like the one most likely to sign back with the team, but that's nothing more than a semi-educated guess on my part...

Just stating the obvious, but they have until mid-season to do so.

And I am sure they will wait as long as possible to make any deals. Unless someone absolutely blows them away with a ridiculous offer, which is very unlikely...

When the Yankees are down, you stomp on them. You don't help them out by giving them a ridiculous offer

In that scenario, the Yankees would be the team making the ridiculous offer, assuming any interest in getting Rizzo prior to the deadline.

And the Cubs are less interested n stomping the Yankees than the Sox are. They feel that way about the Cardinals...

You don't think other teams and players love seeing teams like the Yankees, Dodgers, or Red Sox fall on hard times?

Sure, but not enough to affect making or not making deals with them.

The Red Sox made a trade with the Yankees this past off-season and helped them achieve their goal of getting under the tax limits.

If the Cubs get offered 2 or 3 good prospects for Rizzo that overwhelm them, they will take it. Theo's primary goal is the success of the Cubs, not the demolition of the Yankees...

It was a head-scratcher, as we, too were seeking to stay under the tax line, but who has won the trade, so far?

BTW, Ottavino comes off the books in 2022- just in time for us to start spending big, again.

I didn't think so.

Bloom bought a prospect that he was enamored with. And in order to get him all he had to do was pay Adam Ottavino to pitch for a year...

Ah yes. Well, Hoyer then. The idea is the same regardless of who is in charge...

Another day another clown show. Basically 3 errors in the first inning (though home scorers gave their guys 2 hits) leads to 3 runs.

Maybe if the Yankees had an extra 27 at bats they could score 3 runs and tie it up.

That's a big maybe...

Another thing we can all agree on is that the 2021 Yankees might be the worst use of $200 million since Jack the Giant Slayer...

But with the 2021 Yankees, we're only 15 minutes into the movie.

As much as I don't want to see it, they're going to rebound.

The biggest thing to come out of last night was German’s recovery. Nobody questions his stuff, but his toughness has been called into question. He got screwed a bit in the first by his defense then he locked it down the next 5 innings. If he can find it while our offense rebounds, he will be an asset

Well, that's more than I can say about Jack the Giant Slayer...

Same lineup again today. Need it. Stanton is an auto out. Sanchez is an auto out. I’d sub our Frazier for Tauchman and run it back

The only way for Stanton to get out of his slump is to play. I'd maybe stick him in the outfield and see if that gets him going. This would be my lineup for today (assuming Gio is back):

1. LeMahieu 2B

2. Judge RF

3. Urshela 3B

4. Stanton LF

5. Ford 1B

6. Torres SS

7. Hicks CF

8. Higashioka C

9. Sanchez DH

Once the bats truly heat up, this team is gonna be tough to beat. The bullpen is lights out. Taillon has been nails 2 of 3 starts. Cole is awesome. Montgomery has been far better than his ERA. German rebounded in his last start. Kluber is the one I’m concerned about as it seems he cannot go deep yet. Maybe he never will. He’s been awful in 2 starts and then was really solid in the other 2 before fading around the 75 pitch mark. He needs to show up and start to at least go a solid 5 or he’ll be the odd man out. I’m still really concerned about Torres. No power and outside of a 3 hit game two days ago, he’s been absent offensively. I’m wondering if he ends up getting sent down mid May if he’s still terrible

Stanton with a big day and Yanks win. Bats starting to warm up

If you call teeing off on lousy lefty Logan Allen and ending up with 6 hits warming up, sure. ;)
