While Yorke may be struggling, another top 10 prospect in Salem has been playing pretty good so far:

@IanCundall

Red Sox OF Gilberto Jimenez hit his first HR of the season yesterday. For the year, he's hitting .352/.403/.479 w/a 13% K rate. His hitting data is encouraging also. Chase rate is down, quality of contact is up significantly and he's hitting the ball a lot harder more frequently.

Player of the Day: Arguably the best hitter in High-A this year, Tyreque Reed had another great game on Tuesday as he hit a home run and a triple while adding a sacrifice fly. The performance boosted his triple slash to .309/.435/.736 and his eight home runs are the most in High-A East. The first baseman is blocked in Portland by Triston Casas, but if the soon-to-be 24-year-old keeps up this performance the Red Sox will need to challenge him with a promotion to Double-A.

I'm not sure the Rule V draft pick has a high ceiling, but keeping him in A+ isn't helping him at all. They should just promote him and have him play DH. I'd also call up Mieses to AAA and waive Tate Matheny.

I don't think you're "not helping a guy" by keeping him at a level when he's mashing a ball. There's plenty of things for guys to work on developmentally no matter what their stat line is.

Generally speaking, the fast track is let a guy get at least a 1/2 season of at bats at a level before you're promoting him. Even when you look at guys who get super fast-tracked they get some at-bats. Take Mookie Betts, who is the prime example of a guy who rushed through a system. The least amount of at bats he had at any level was 185 in A+. Right now Reed is sitting on 179, so I don't think they're holding him back, but he has put himself in the conversation for a promotion, which I think is going to come sometime soon.

I did just miss that he has 111 at-bats at A+ back in 2019. So in total, he has 290 total. That's not crazy, but not small either. If he gets promoted soon I think that's in line and well deserved. Edited by A Red Sox fan named Hugh

@alexspeier

Johan Mieses, a 25-year-old Red Sox minor leaguer who leads the minors with 11 homers, has been promoted to Triple-A Worcester from Double-A Portland. He hit .286/.368/.714 in 22 games for the Sea Dogs.

@redsoxstats

Wonder if this opens a spot for Tyreque Reed in Portland soon, he's the only player in the system that's hit better than Mieses (and by a wide margin).

LOL and he gets promoted now as we discuss, that's hilarious and awesome.

They'd make better moves if they just followed us on here!

soxprospects.com updated their rankings, but they still have not placed Valdez and the other PTBNLs recently acquired.

The dropped Whitlock from the prospect list and made him a former prospect.

They jumped Brayan Bello from #24 to #9, but hardly anyone else moved much, except by attrition due to Whitlock's removal and Bello's leap.

Here are some other minor leaps or falls:

Jimenez jumped over Houck from 6 to 4.

Ronaldo Hernandez jumped over Groome (13/14).

Wong jumped over Blaze (17/18).

Rosario (my sleeper pick) jumped over Bazardo (19/20).

Arauz jumped Potts (21/22).

Winckowski jumped Decker and German from 27 to 24. I expected a higher ranking for Josh.

Bradley Blalock jumped from 33 to 26. Drohan from 32 to 27. Howlett from 40 to 33. Wilson from 39 to 34 and Cannon from 42 to 35.

German fell from 26 to 29, Wallace from 28 to 30. Zeferjahn from 31 to 42

Loving the Bello movement.

Watching the WooSox today. I’ve read that there’s a jet stream from behind home plate to center, and today I’m seeing it. Very very very hitter friendly.

The Bello Movement sounds like the name of a band or some kind of gastro issue.

The Greenville Drive are scoring 6.5 runs per game and have 6 everyday guys OPS > 800 (3 > 1.000).

The way the minor league schedule worked out Greenville only played 3 teams the first 3 weeks of the season. I think the pitching on those teams was pretty bad, helps seeing the same guy over and over again.
