#RedSox will start LHP Mike Kickham on Wednesday.

31-year-old hasn’t appeared in a major league game since 2014 when he was with the Giants. He is 0-3 with a 10.98 ERA in 14 career games

Good to see us giving the " kids " a shot.

Good grief, Charlie Brown.

My number one complaint about Bloom is his bizarre attempts to recoup a lot of these aging "never was" pitchers like Kickham, Mazza, Springs, Blair and Covey (and Ryan Weber to some extent). I can somewhat see the appeal of guys like Robert Stock and Caleb Simpson, who can both at least throw about 100mph, which is a rare skill even among MLB pitchers. But I don't see why we give shots to guys like Kickham, Mazza and Covey, who have failed repeatedly at this level, but get rid of pitchers like Travis Lakins who has had limited opportunities at best.

And where is Tanner Houck? Or Connor Seabold? Why not give them a shot over Kickham?

There are no kids to start, unless you are going to bring up Mata, which I wouldn't. Save those bullets for a real season.

Houck just isn't ready. I don't think they want to throw him out there as a starter and get lit up. They'll probably transition him to the pen at some point. I think they value his potential and don't want to get in his head.

Seabold? Maybe they want to work with him a little longer to get a feel for him. I think they are probably trying to correct Pivetta's issues.

I think they are just looking for fungible bodies to put in innings this year.

I think yer right on all counts.

They just don't have starting pitching depth in the high minors that they can bring up. If they had more guys, maybe they'd risk Mata, but it's better to just continue punting on this season.

I think we may still have a shot at some records for highest staff ERA. With an asterisk, of course.

Shockingly, this team is a long way from setting the record. The Sox current staff ERA of 6.16 would only be the 4th worst in MLB history. The 1930 Phillies hold the record with a team ERA of 6.71. Second worst is the 1996 Tigers with a 6.38.

This has been another episode of “Notin’s Believe It.... Or Not!! Whatever You Want! See If I f***ing Care!!”

So you're saying there's a chance on the bottomless, never to be exceeded worst ERA ever ?
