sigh...such sheep.... "Influenza killed about 80,000 people in the 2017-2018

: season (US), according to figures released by the Centers

: for Disease Control and Prevention."

: One might imagine how many died in less fortunate nations that

: year. Oddly enough I can't recall the world sliding into

: abject panic. Seems like no one cared.

: Draw your own conclusion.

influenza mortality rate: 0.01%

COVID 19 mortality rate: 2.3% (fluid)

i'm guessing you hate statcast

Ahhh, but there is a 0.0001% mortality rate if you wear the OMITVD branded tin foil hat!

remind me again, how many folks outside of China have died? Also outside of Asians how many have died? What the hell is statcast? some nonsense from the CDC? your virus is straight out fear porn.

I have 2 warehouses in China that i work with. the rumor out of there is that 2,000 bodies a day are being cremated so that 2.3% might be misleading. might be a higher percent. but even at 2% and this virus spreads across USA i am not sending Manny to school at a 2 in 100 chance of death....

i guess that makes me liberal snowflake pc treehugger... ‾\_(ツ)_/‾

Kids aren’t dying from this. It’s the adults and more likely, the elderly

See? Stop worrying, Slasher. Manny will do just fine at the orphanage...

And I hope that Bloom is looking forward a starting pitcher since the Red Sox only have 3 starters to open the season.

He is, but would you be ok with them signing McHugh, who wouldn't be ready on Opening Day either?

I like McHugh, but his arm woes have been a bit mysterious. I would wait until his throwing program progresses a bit before signing him. In the meantime, he needs to get someone else just to go north with 4. Mata looked good yesterday, but who knows how he will look when he faces full MLB lineups. Hernandez has plus stuff, but he hasn’t proved that he can consistently throw strikes.

I watched BP on the back field and saw that LuCroy was raking. I told Dewey that LuCroy had a really good BP and that JD looked awful. It carried over to the game. JD had 3 terrible ABs and LuCroy PH a hard drive of the very top of the monster.

We'll see if Lucroy has a bounce back season after getting his neck fixed. I know a lot of young catchers look up to him. Even if he flames out, he probably would be a better bench coach than Variturd.

It was a joke. It made me laugh at myself for a second.

You do not joke about Varitek in that manner. You just don't.

No kidding. His durability really worries me, especially after the way he got hit last year and shutting him down a couple of times the last few years.

Sale will be pitching with a huge chip on his shoulder because of his performance last season and his sense that he let his team and the fans down. That chip won't necessarily keep him healthy, but if he can stay healthy, I expect to see a return to near vintage Sale.

I agree. He has always been a fierce competitor, and this added incentive to show greatness can't hurt.
