If we are truly tearing this down is a Benny Trade to them timely ? Or are we done ? Can Benny land a couple prospects of value ? Why not cash in while that fan base is ready to commit sacapu?

I think with the budget solved and the Boston fan base in turmoil over Betts, Benintendi probably got his position locked in for 2020. He could have a good comeback of sorts year is still relatively cheap by Mookie standards. JBJr may also have received his stay in Boston ticket for several months. Check back on both these guys around July 30.

Beni has lost his luster, to me. I don't want to trade the guy, and maybe expecting growth every year without step backs might be unrealistic, but I said what I think.

Sacapu?

I don't think he's going to demand the prospects required to make it worth moving him. I think I'd rather just keep him and hope he improves and at least stays a solid player and maybe a fringe all star.

Nah, that's too sensible.

Beni is now the next man up with Mookie gone. He needs to bring an A game because I agree with Moon, Andrew in 2019 was a real disappointment at leadoff as and as far as development into an better player. They definitely need him to perform now.

i would 100% trade Beni for a haul of prospects.

For the record, I think Benintendi would trade you for two pictures from your profile history and a poster to be named later...

He needs to just put 2019 behind him. His trade value isn't great right now.

Because they'll want us to take Myers.

Taking Myers might not be as bad as giving $48M to the Dodgers, but since we just signed Moreland, we wouldn't really use Myers much. Myers's value on the Trave Value site is-47.4- almost the exact same as the money we are paying LA.

The problem is, the Padres don't want to give up prospects.

I played around on the site and came up with this:

Betts & Price (+22M)

for

Myers, Lucchesi (doubt they'd give us him), Hedges, Naylor and Margot

SD would not do this trade.

Yup. Selling low usually isn't a good idea, especially when there really isn't a reason to move him.

Unless they want Lin as the starting LF. It would be waving such a white flag that fans would drop out before the season even started.

Yup, that's the other thing, its not like we have some great outfielders in the wings waiting to take over. We have AAAA guys and bums.

That doesn’t disagree with what I posted at all.

This makes it sound like they didn't want to give up prospects...

“We were not going to trade on our future,” said the unnamed employee. “We’re in for the (long haul), not one year.”

Plus, all we ever heard for names was Myers, and I think Margot and Quantrill were mentioned, too.

Myers, Margot, Campusano plus either Quantril or Luchessi

That sounds a lot like a "trade on the future..."

I'd trade Price for Myers straight up, but I doubt SD agrees. They wanted us to pay part of Myers's deal. Let's assume they go along with Price for Myers, then we get to the Betts part of the deal. What's similar to Verdugo & Graterol? Going by the trade simulator values, Verdugo and Graterol (healthy) are worth about 65.

Mix and match SD players & prospects:

50 Patino (not likely offered by SD)

32 Lucchesi

32 Trammell

25 Campusano

20 Grisham

14 Morejon

13 Hedges

13 Naylor

11 Weathers

9 Quantrill

7 Margot
