Don't forget to add that the trades and the cheating helped
Just like the rampant steroid use in the Yankee clubhouse contributed to the Yankees 1996-2000 Dynasty.

And the only thing we know for certain is that those trades resulted in a championship and the best season in Red Sox history.

Certain?

Didn't the Red Sox win the championship in 2018?

They certainly did.

Did the trades certainly lead to that or us having the best record ever?

I'd say highly probable but not certainly, and certainly not every trade.

Are freaking kidding me ???? Do us a favor and the minute the telephone pole of cheating stuck in your Yankees eyes comes out I’ll give a flying s*** what you and your POS team thinks .

It was asked how the 2018 team would have done without having made the trades that were made. That is impossible to know, but we do know with absolute CERTAINTY how the team did with those transactions. You question the assertion that this is certain. I don't even know how to describe the method of logic that you are trying to use.

You answered your own question. "Impossible to know" = not certain.

Plus, I said "all the trades."

Flags fly forever, including the ones Jeter won while being roided up.

The Butterfly Effect tells us that we have no way of knowing that the Sox would not have won the title that year even if they had not claimed Tony Randa off waivers from the Diamondbacks. While it makes all the sense in the world that Tony Randa did not matter for the title, the bottom line is you can never prove otherwise.

It's getting to the point where my biggest gripe about Bloom is the complete lack of minor league deals. I get having a budget that limits your ability to sign players to major league deals, but why not take some zero risk chances on minor league deals?

Sounds strangely familiar!

And it would be hypocritical of me to hold that strategy against Dombrowski while embracing Bloom.

If anything I am more disappointed in Bloom for this, because unlike Dombrowski, he hasn’t been given Carte Blanche. What other options does Bloom really have?

DD hired. the next day many of us said he would destroy the Farm but hopefully get us a parade. check.

Bloom hired. the next day many of us said he would build the Farm back up and find us diamonds in teh rough. maybe even draft/obtain some quality young pitching. lower the payroll & make us a playoff team. TBD.

Rebuilding the farm could take a year or more.

Signing some low risk/moderate reward potential contributors like Keon Broxton, Trevor Rosenthal, Yimi Garcia, Nick Martini, Kyle Barraclough, Joey Rickard, Nick Tropeano, Zack Godley, or Ryon Healy could have already happened...

Agreed. i am holding off initial judgement of Bloom until trading deadline year 1. until then he remains a TBD for me....

Add the tainted titles that Arod and Clemens won while Roided up in Yankee pinstripes as well. I’d consider signal-stealing less damning than PEDs that give a physical performance advantage over opponents.

Bloom acquired Austin Brice from the Marlins tody for a nondescript minor league infielder.

Marco Hernandez DFA'd.

Brice was a DFA/waiver claim for the Marlins last year who worked out, but really outpitched his peripherals...

You think my man marco will be claimed or end up in our minor league system?

Print the Playoff tickets.

Is the cause for this exuberance the acquisition of Brice or the DFA of Hernandez? Both moves might be equally impactful...

Brice throws reasonably hard (93-94) and relies on almost a 1-1 fastball- slider combination. He was a throwaway who out pitched his peripherals. He’s worth a shot. This is just the kind of move Bloom has made in the past that’s worked out. It cost almost nothing

They stuck with Marco for so long. He's finally looking healthy, and he gets DFA'd.

I'm not saying it's a bad move. They probably guess he's the least likely man on their 40 man roster to get claimed, but he was not my 40th player.

I’m thinking Ryan Weber has some serious dirt on Bloom or Henry or both...
