The human white flag is out in the pen. Ottavino was used to much this year that he's toast. Colorado did it to him last year too.

What happened to all that pen depth?

Stros are in a different class than the Yankees. I feel they won’t have many problems with the nationals if they get to the World Series .

Thinking that myself. Nats don’t have a chance in my opinion but might surprise us.

There is a potential for some epic pitching matchups with Cole/Scherzer and Verlander/Strasburg.

Hoping it’s a series that goes at least 6 games.

It’s easy to see. Since Verlander toed the slab down 0-1, the starting pitchers have done the following

HOU 18IP 3R

NYY 11.2IP 7R

It’s not rocket science. You cannot hand your pen a deficit early in games and expect to win against World Series champion level opponents. You’ve got to win the early innings as much as you win the later ones.

Hate to see CC end like that; he was a true warrior in his prime who had the mindset of going 9 every time out and reinvented himself later on. He knew how to pitch.

If he could stand upright, he could still get hitters out.

The Yankees have turned into a total crap show. I figured the Yankees would lose the series, but I didn't think it would get ugly like this. 4 or 5 errors? Lemahieu sucks at 1b.

The Nats v. Astros should be a great series with some fascinating SP battles. When you look at the last three teams standing, the Nats and Astros have stud starting pitching, while the Yankees have a bunch of numb nuts in their starting rotation. It is no surprise that the Yankees are getting eliminated--they simply can't compete against better starting staffs and if a miracle happened and the Yankees get past the Astros, the Nats would totally destroy the Yankees.

When you watch this series, I have no idea why Joe Girardi doesn't have a job. He is a better manager than Boone and took a worse Yankees team farther in the playoffs in 2017. With that said, it sounds like Girardi will be getting a job soon.

The guy who should get dumped next is Brian Cashman. Not only did he fire a really good manager and replace him with a worse one, Cashman outspends just about every single team every year and yet the Yankees haven't played in a World Series game in a decade. Cashman isn't an incompetent GM, and he has made some good moves, but he misses on starting pitchers too often and thus the current reality. He also built a lineup that doesn't have the right kind of balance to win in October--too many right-handed free swingers who excel in striking out against quality competition.

Paid out my ass to freeze my dick off in the upper deck just to watch my team get s*** stomped and then spend 90 minutes on a piss soaked subway car just to get home.

But would do it again because I am a degenerative psychopath.

Makes sense to me.

Just like I said the other day, your starting staff is s***. You can't win a post season with meh starting pitching

Pitching always wins when it comes to playoff time. An ace pitcher when he's on will always shut down a great offense. Yankees starter dont have that capability. They are way too inconsistent.

Yankees stadium seemed to be rocking early on in that game. that place can get loud. would have been fun to watch the Nats wilt in there.

if the yankees lose tonight this once promising match up will be reduced to a beating behind the woodshed......

There’s a thing called a luxury tax in the mlb. I think there’s more to it than just pitching. They have left a lot of runners on base. Offense has been pathetic.

Most Yankee fans are, but admitting it is the first step to recovery.

Congrats!

Once Boone brought Ottavino into game 2, we’ve been outscored 14-4. It’s as if that Springer homer flipped a switch. Yanks showing no life at home. Houston looking unbeatable. Amazing how one bad managerial move can turn a juggernaut into a meek mouse.

Houston is the true juggernaut.

The Yankee rotation was all smoke and mirrors. The rotation's weakness is what caused the overuse of Ottavino and the pen.

Cashman is more to blame than Boone.

So what’s the deal with Stanton? He’s gonna get killed by the new york media for not giving it a go.

Stanton has albatross written all over him.
