When it comes to PED's, one thing I'm about 99% sure of is that my boy Bellhorn was doing 'em. A chunky little guy like that hitting the bombs he did in 2004...

Oh his anger-filled attitude was a dead giveaway...

Should a Red Sox fan be happy or disappointed that the Athletics beat the Yankees to remain seven games up on the Sox in the Wild Card race?

The Rays won as well to move past the Guardians into the second Wild Card slot seven games ahead of the Red Sox.

I can't speak for all Red Sox fans, but I am apathetic about which teams are the wild cards. It won't be the Sox. As long as the Yankees do not win the World Series I am fine with whoever wins the ring.

if the Sox dont make it...i will be on the cleveland bandwagon. anyone but the yankees will definitely be the mantra.

I do think there is still plenty of it in use . And they are always looking for something that won't be detected . One guy I am a little worried about is Vazquez .

Cleveland has a cheap owner and lousy fans . A decent enough team , but they would not even be in the picture if they played in any other division in baseball .

While I'm not crazy about the Guardians owner, I like Francona and want to see him win another World Series.

But I like the Astros, too. They eliminated the Yankees two years ago and I like how they went out and acquired Grienke, and then finalized the deal in the last few minutes (clever).

I wouldn't mind seeing the A's win with B.Beane finally getting that elusive World Series championship.

The teams that I will be rooting against: Yankees (obviously), and the Twins (they always roll over and die for the Yankees).

A guy I wonder about is Gio Urshela. He is a great hitter all of a sudden?

In the larger picture, I sometimes wonder if the baseballs aren't the explanation and that we are simply going through another steroids period where they have perfected masking PEDs from drug testing. If we are going through another PED period, that would explain the HRs as well as the injuries.

Not ready to give up on the Red Sox . But if they don't make it , I will pull for the underdog Rays. They don't match up well on paper with the top teams , but Kevin Cash does a great job with them . In the N.L. , I always root for the Cubs . In any event , I will be interested . Never in the apathetic category . Not that I blame those who are . It's all good .

I really don't get ripping Brian Cashman.

The other point I wanted to make: I live in the NYC area and tune into NYC sports radio quite often and Cashman has received a lot of criticism over the last 15 years or so for his handling of the Yankees starting rotation. And many of these criticisms are justified. To be sure, Cashman has a history of making some questionable decisions when it comes to starting pitching, and that spotlight continues to shine on Cashman especially after the Astros acquired Grienke and the Yankees did nothing.

Cashman- starters.

DD- relievers.

I'm with you.

The Guardians have a better record against AL East teams than the Yankees and Rays have against the AL Central:

The official standings for Major League Baseball including division and league standings for regular season, wild card, and playoffs.

The Red Sox have feasted on the AL Central, the only division against which the Sox have a winning record.

No, the baseballs are definitely a big factor. This was proven when they started using the MLB balls in Triple A ball and home runs instantly increased by about 50%.

Plus signing Happ instead of Corbin, who is having an excellent season for the Nats.

Nope. But the Yankees could easily have afforded the extra cost. That's what a lot of Yankee fans think, anyway.

There may be some truth to their criticisms, but sometimes sports journalists both on radio and in the papers can be overly critical or simply work with less information. And far too often they only look at the short term. For example, ripping Cashman for not signing Corbin. Sure, Corbin would have been great this year, but that contract runs through 2025. That’s a long time to be paying $25mill to a pitcher who gets hurt a lot. And if Corbin spend the next 6 seasons on and off the IL, will the stance of these radio guys change? If paying that much to an injured Corbin got in the way of paying arb contracts to Torres and Judge, those same radio talking heads who are ripping him for not getting Corbin would suddenly start ripping him for getting Corbin.

Cashman isn’t perfect, but he has done a lot of good for the Yankees...

Yes but affording Corbin and Torres and Judge is another matter...

It is ALWAYS considered good form to bash the Yankees in any way you see fit. However, if you choose not to do so, the rest of us will have to make up for the shots you fail to take at them.:P

Yeah , I get that . But when you lose a spelling bee , then yell at the winner " You suck at spelling " , it comes across as kind of lame . At least to me . Anyway , for those who feel better by doing that , go for it . No problem .

If you won the spelling bee 3 years in a row, maybe you could yell it after losing this year. They'd probably ban you for life, though.

Exactly. We criticze DD for tying up our budget for years to come then criticize Cashman for not doing the same.

(This is why I had hoped the Yanks signed Machado AND Harper last winter, and people called me nuts!)

Yeah . Should have stalled for time by saying , " What is the definition " and " Can you use that in a sentence ." That stuff is killing spelling bees . They need a pitch clock .

Not really - I'd say most of the criticism of DD is for pillaging the farm.

Okay, but trading for Greinke would have done that.
