They have gone totally flat since the trade deadline debacle. Time for DD to commit Japanese Ceremonial Seppuku

Hard to score runs with 5 guys in the lineup hitting under .201

I have no idea why Cora kept DHern out there as long as he did unless he was trying to get two HBP out of DHern to match Heanley's two.

When is Eovaldi ever going to pitch in a situation that isn't 10-1?

I never ever thought Nate was going to be somebody that could come back this late and make an impact this year. More ******** from the estimable Sox PR department. I am more inclined to think he will be in this game shortly if we don't run out of innings.

Annouce teams desperately trying to keep the listening/viewing audiences interested and then .....up steps Sandy.

OB and ECK repeatedly talking about how POR was rolling. I thought they might start singing the song RAWHIDE.

"Keep Porcello rollin', though his arm is swollen, keep Porcello rollin' Rawhide."

Losses this late, are killers. Maybe A's and Rays loose too.

Yup needed to sweep this series. Losing a series to Baltimore and losing a game against Kansas City and today against LA are big reasons why we aren’t in a playoff spot. Sucks we lose to the good teams but sucks even worse we can’t take care of the bad teams.

Weber has shown more than enough to warremt a (s inning) start. J hope Cora has seen enough of Hernandezm etc.

Cora engaged in a lot of stupidity tonight from benching Devers the game after he rediscovered his stroke to batting Sam Travis cleanup. WTF! Sending out Darwinzon for a second inning was more stupidity. He’s a one inning guy if you are lucky. As soon as he loses his arm slot, he needs to be pulled or he will walk the ballpark and he did. Then he brings in neck tat to get out of a tight spot in the late innings of a competitive game. Cora should just forfeit those games that he is going to wreck with his stupidity. At least, everyone would get a rest. Oh, and Sam Travis in LF. WTF is he thinking. I guess that he has given up. Edited by a700hitter

I would say it seems like Cora has given up too but with only 5 games out of a playoff spot I really hope that isn’t the case. This season just seems a bad season of bad pitching and mistakes from the coaching staff and players. A very strange season. With this talent we should be competing for the division and we aren’t even in a playoff spot. Can’t beat the bad teams and we get smoked by the good teams. Season has been disappointing

Tough one. Cora still playing the sit guys for rest game when you don't need to (this actually first started under Jimy Williams back in the late 1990s when he introduced what I called the "mandatory rest" regardless of need.) It didn't work then, it's certainly not working now. It only works if you are winning and don't have to worry about making the playoffs. It's a strategy of doom. But Cora is no different than every other manager in today's game. They want to use all the toys at their disposal regardless of whether they work or not. Oh well.

To add on the resting of players. I say this with less than 50 games to play. You can rest all you want once we are either eliminated or we win in the playoffs. It's really that simple. You play your best players--Benintendi might suck v. lefties of late, but so what. This has been an immense love affair with Sam Travis and while he's hit some bombs, he's not really the first option when there are so many other players who should be playing/hitting in front of him.

I thought a week ago, you were saying Weber and DHern needed to pitch more.

I'm still watching every pitch of every game, but I've come close to just shutting off the TV during some of these recent games. I came real close tonight.

We suck. There's nothing more to say.

The season is over. Oh, and by the way, did I mention we suck?

Looks like Cora was using the 'load up on righty hitters vs. a lefty starter' policy combined with giving Devers and Beni a rest day.

I don't necessarily agree with it either, but I can see some rationale in it.
