No DJ in the starting lineup. He was previously injured and played both ends of the DHer, so my guess is we see him as a PHer if at all. The lineup the Yanks are running out there is weak sauce

Seems like the Yankees are willing to pretty much give this one away .

Here's tonight's game thread...AROD gets another visit by the I-don't-get-enough-TV-time, me-me wife Jenny from the Block, the chick in the booth laughs, AROD laughs, they do a cutaway of the two goofing off together. This goes on for several awkward minutes until ESPN does a split screen of Boone hitting his 2003 HR and AROD fighting with Varitek. Trying to fill in the void of this being a non-game that virtually has any importance to anything, the crew talks about the Exit Velocity of Devers v. Judge....z-z-z-z-z-z-z-z-z-z-z-z-z-z...4 hours 20 minutes later, Sox win 7-6 in 11 innings although it was only 2-2 after a surprisingly quick 9. In the top of the 10th, Sox take a 4-2 lead, bullpen blows it. In the 11th Sox get a 3-run HR from Christian Vasquez, in the bottom the Sox try to give it back and with the bases loaded and 2 outs and a 3-2 count, every fan in here or no fans because everyone is asleep by this time, Mitch Moreland makes a spectacular diving catch to end the game.

I deal with numbers for my job, last 40 years, I don't care about Launch Angle and Exit Velocity. Only numbers I care about is the score, and number of Suds I'll be having. Edited by OH FOY!

Yanks got to be careful too. Lose only 6.5 ahead of Rays. At least it makes it interesting.

Rays about to win, so more pressure tonight on the Sox.

Pressure is paying bills and taking care of one's family. No pressure on an underachieving bunch of millionaires, who have already thrown in the towel.

I think that the time for the Sox to feel pressure is long gone.

There is zero pressure, right now.

The season is over.

9 up in the L column with 11 straight vs the Os and Jays. We are gonna be fine so long as we can get healthy. Good news is Didi is back in the lineup. Sanchez should return this week as well. But losing EE for the next 6 weeks and Hicks for who knows how long is gonna be problematic.

There is just no way I can tolerate the ESPN crew normally. However in this situation they will be ball washing the Yankmees all night long. NO THANKS!

Mute button special. Fortunately my vision is still good enough not to need the audio nonsense anyway.

Also, the only lock down reliever that’ll be available tonight will be Ottavino. Kahnle, Britton and Chap have thrown on consecutive days.

That's 1 more lock down reliever than anything we have. LMAO

Rays win, Guardians win, A's win. This just gets better and better. Blowing out my Mint Julep budget.

Between nature's rain delay and the human rain delay known as Price, I seriously doubt this game is over before midnight.

One of the things that helps MLB's slipping and sliding TV ratings is that as most people get older, they often require and get less sleep for better or worse. Since us old folks are the only people watching anyway according to the demographic ratings, hey MLB....look on the bright side. Heck I likely won't be pushing up daisies for at least another 10 years. Manfred might have that much runway.

Boone did this the last time we faced Price

Boone gets a lot of points for winning with a depleted lineup . But some of his moves ( if they are really his ) are real head scratchers .

On paper , this looks like a win for the Sox . Then they go home to host one of the worst teams in recent memory . A four game winning streak is very possible. That will give renewed hope to many fans .

The turnaround starts tonight!

Thats one of the things that annoys me about the overload shift. If the SS is in his normal position and is not a fat useless f***, he makes that play easily albeit more appealing visually than that play went.

Boone has been pretty laid back this year. He’s fine punting games vs rivals or teams chasing us, which I’ve yet to understand. You wanna give DJ a night off? Wait til Baltimore tomorrow. Heck, you can give him the first two games of the series off. He’s done this against TB too which really pisses me off. Play the season like you want to beat the teams you’re chasing. Instead, it’s almost as if he’s playing the season to win the games you should win then let the chips fall where they may vs the chief rivals. I guess it’s a good way to boost win totals, but games vs your rivals or vs the Rays count as two games in the standings

FYI, Happ is the kind of pitcher Chavis loves. No big fastball, lots of breaking s***. I’m calling a Chavis tater tonight

Problem is Chavis is the ONLY guy in our lineup that likes this kind of pitcher. The rest get eaten alive by these guys.
