You asked? Here it is. The biggest star in Hollywood history needs his own performance thread! But jokes aside.. Bogart has been the most consistent hitter

that the Red Sox have had this season. His stats thru 82 games speak for themselves and when the SOX need a clutch hit.. he has delivered more than his share this year. He (along with Rafael) has been a lot of fun to watch.

2B 28

HR 16

AVG .301

RBI 58

BB 49

SLG .541

OPS .933

Not trying to rag on the kid. We are all thankful for his effort last year. No denying it.

But jeez... Beni looks absolutely lost at the plate right now. Kind of dejected as well.

Hitting coaches where are you? Have they been strictly focusing on JBJ recently?

Can't argue with the results though! Love me some JBJ.

But yeah... Mr. Bogart has been sensational this season. He is on pace to shatter his HR, 2B and BB season highs. Hope he keeps it up.

Go X-man!

I think it's just a slump and Benni is over thinking things. He had 5 or 6 hits last series against the Jays so hopefully tonight he comes out of it. Xander and Devers have put the team on their back. Seems no matter what series or what time they are playing these two come ready. It's amazing to see.

I'd add JBJ to the short list with Bogey & Devers.

Of course, you start the Bogaerts thread and he promptly strikes out a career first 4 times in the game. LOL

I remember a poster at BDC, who supposedly had an inside source, posting about high the Sox were on Bogaerts, and how the Sox would never trade Bogaerts. This was several years ago.

Bogaerts is becoming everything the Sox anticipated he'd become, including a great clubhouse guy.

As I posted in another thread, I've gained a lot of respect for Bogaerts this year.

Me, too, but I'd still like to see better D for the SS position.

His offense more than makes up for his defense, which isn't really all that bad, unless you are a DRS fan.

Bogey has been very impressive in an off year (so far). But the truly amazing guy has been Devers. What a glorious season--and at 22, and because it's during this down season, it seems even more spectacular. He's not someone who projects discipline or intensity, but somehow he must have both of these traits. What a pleasant surprise. (Now, if we could just produce one, just one, great pitcher... just one)

Agree on the defense in terms or DRS, which has been consistently bad for him.

No matter how well a player plays it's always easy to find something that could be better. Right now I'll take our left side of the IF (on both sides of the ball) and be very happy with it.

I am not going to complain about Bogaerts' defense. With everything else that he has brought to the team this year, I am very pleased with him as a player and a leader.

I just need to give another shout out to Bogaerts.

Xander Bogaerts has two doubles tonight on balls hit with exit velocities of 61.9 and 65.3 mph. The dude hustles.

I've always liked UZR/150 better, and Bogey is consistently between #15-20 out of the top 30 SSs by innings.

With this offense, I don't worry about him not being #5-10. Plus, there's a hell of a lot of very good to great defensive SSs these days, so #15-20 is not really bad.

Xander's offense has more than made up for his defense. With an fWAR of 4.8, he is the leading SS in baseball. Parenthetically, he has currently doubled Machado's fWAR of 2.4.

Xander makes the plays that he should make. He does not have the range of some of the other shortstops.

Xander Freakin' Bogaerts!!!

This might be a wasted year for the Red Sox, but the ascension of Xander and Rafael anchors the team. It looks like we'll be losing 9-6 games for a long time to come.

The thing I continue to find amusing is that when DD signed ^^That guy^^ the overall reaction was, "Why him? Why not focus on signing Betts?", while signing Mookie was doubtful at best. As it turns out, DD got his man.

X is my hero. He is the only guy mature enough and talented enough and deeply committed to the game itself enough to play it the way it should be played. Rafi is still too young to do that and that was evident in the last two Rays games. Not complaining about Rafi. Just pointing out that X is the man at present. Rafi is the man-child.

X has slumps that last about a game and a half before he picks this team up, puts it on his back again and tries to carry it across the threshold. The rest of them should be ashamed of themselves. Vaz falls in line after X. Rafi next. You can have the entire rest of them for my money.

Yeah, when they signed Sale to an extension I was like, "Are you sure?" but Xander was a great extension. Mookie will overplay his hand in free agency based on his one off the charts year a la Jacoby Ellsbury style.

The extension of Bogaerts might be the only thing Dombrowski did right all year.

If Sale turns it around next year, that will be two. But if Sale continues to pitch like this, Dombrowski will have Tigered this team faster than I thought he could.,,

Good Post, and you better not forget Devers. The Left side of the infield is the HOF, right before our eyes, if they continue like this. Man are they young.

What did Dombrowski do to Devers?

Also, while IMO X is the man and Rafi is the man-child, it should be clear that the single most significant influence on Rafi and the one year leaps and bounds he has made and those that he has made even in this year has been.........X.

Didn't trade him.

He didn’t trade anyone except Swihart.

Have we reached the point with DD where we say his best moves are NOT trading pre-arbitration former top prospects?

He has done his job. Helped bring us a championship. A baseball ops guy with a shelf life....OBVIOUSLY! Time to go Dave. Henry would be out of his mind to extend him.
