Well put.

Yes, the problem is not with our arbs, except maybe JBJ.

To reset, we will have to let several arb players go or trade a big contract.

The Sox aren’t going to reset, whether it’s the smart move or not.

I’d be surprised if Bradley was tendered a contract.

As for trading a big deal, I’d be surprised if Betts was dealt. More likely he shifts to center. Again, while trading Mookie might be the smart move, I’d be surprised if it happened.

I’d like to move Price, but I think I’d be disappointed with anything they got back...

According to one website David Price has a negative value of $44.8 million:

I really have no idea what Price is doing. His last few starts have not only been awful but all over the map. Second to last start he tried to throw his FB 94-95 again...which is clearly something in his rearview mirror. His FB flattened out and he got clobbered. The last start, began sensibly enough as he looked like he was following in Erod's footsteps with this particular NY team, getting them to chase with two strikes. Then Price appeared to get frustrated with that because while the Yanks were chasing most of his pitches designed for that purpose they were not chasing all of them. Prices comes right back up in the zone, right down main st with NOTHING and gets pulverized.

I truly thought Price was ahead of Sale in a transition process and now I don't know where Price is unless he is trying to throw and talk his way outta' town. The two starts before these last two were equally mesmerizing as I failed to be able to determine what the f*** Price was trying to do other than get hit by a line drive on the mound. He is not just getting hit, he is getting poleaxed.

Are the Sox going to " reset " their ticket , beer and hot dog prices ?

no. but i bet they do some ticket promotions. BOGO or similar next season if resetting. going to Fenway is still a "thing". might see more visiting team fans next year.....

It’s not the lowest value on that site...

Well I will roll out my standard response on that one. I don't care how f***ed any other team might be. The Sox really can't control that and really can only effect another team directly inside of a direct transaction where they hose the other team. I just care about how f***ed we are.

Actually I should come clean and identify that I am not all that gung ho about the accuracy of those values.

We could trade someone like Price by paying close to half his pay, but how much would that help?

It might help us reset.

... which matches up nicely with Jason Hayward if the Sox deal Betts.

Sox get someone who can handle RF at Fenway. Cubs reunite Price and Madden...

We can trade Ellsbury for Price straight up, according to the same site Ells has a value of -36.2, I'm wiling to overlook the difference lol

Yes, but for argument's sake, how much would you pay Price for the next 3 years?

Take that amount and subtract it from the $96M he is owed, and the value of -$45M doesn't seem way off.

I would agree that it's a reasonable valuation.

The truth is that sometimes, like dgalehouse, I get a little fed up with the onslaught of theoretical numbers.

I don't pay those numbers any attention, but my guess is they make harmony very happy.

MLB.com released their top 15 farm system list:'

There's a reason that every time a new general manager gets hired, he preaches the goal of building a strong farm system. Developing homegrown talent is the most efficient way of constructing a winning big league club, by graduating youngsters to the Majors or using them in trades for more

These top 15 teams are contenders for the playoffs this year:

2. TBR

3. LAD

7.ATL

8. MN

12. CLE

These are not:

1. SD

4. MIA

5. AZ

6. DET

9. CWS

10. TOR

11. SEA

13. BAL

14. TEX

15. PIT

Been saying for a while, since Dombrowski left the Tigers, they have done a wonderful job at finding talent. When he left, they were a mess.

If I were Henry, I would can all Our Scouts and Head of Scouting.

Get some real Baseball people and PAY them.

I remember the first move Cherrington did when he got hired was fire Craig Shipley.

He was huge in getting us Bogaerts,

It will be hard for any baseball genius to rebuild our farm with the limitations winning and over spending force on the system.

I'm so impressed with how much better Devers is on both offense and defense this year. He must have worked hard in the offseason. Given how other teammates spent their offseasons, kudos to him.

That is so correct. We need to reset next year. We also need to find a GM attuned to the rebuild process.
