I don't agree that Barnes did not make pitches that could have and frankly should have had Abreu. Its not like Abreu was just toying with Barnes like Kansas City's Perez was toying with somebody I can't remember from 3 years ago. Abreu just beat him. Several of those that Abreu fouled off should have had him out as Barnes was working him up and down, Curve and FB. Even Mookie's 12 pitch job was not IMO as impressive as what Abreu did here.

Barnes is no closer though. The amount of intensity that hitters bring to the ninth inning requires somebody that can sustain and perform through that...in other words, beat the hitter as opposed to the hitter winning the battle.

I would also offer something I have posted before. Barnes is not as effective on the second day of back to back stint days. No idea why Barnes was thrown into yesterday's game where he was thrown in. That was a waste and we don't have arms to waste.

Good post jung. I agree 100%.

Maybe the Mets will trade us Edwin Diaz. LOL!

... and work out for us LOL! That compadre, would be funny. :)

I think I figured it out. Barnes watched Kimbrel in the postseason last year and thought that was the way you were supposed to close games.

Which is fine, if we had a 3 or 4 run lead lol.

Okay, then you are to blame for “blatantly flouting the long standing Game Thread starting etiquette”.

Either way you are guilty counselor.

The etiquette is no longer being observed.

And after you made such a big deal about it the other day.:D

Ya it was weird to me. I’ve actually always liked a700 and enjoyed some of his posts. I found it weird he was so upset that I created the game thread. I’ll chalk it up to a bad trip or drunk lol.

i was not upset, or drunk. I don’t take drugs either. My remarks were tongue in cheek. I care so little about it that I thought I would make that clear by starting today’s thread. For some reason you thought this has merited calling me a moron.

Perhaps this has already been said but, as avid Red Sox Fans, we are thoroughly fed up with the performance of Barnes. Simply can not understand why Cora continues to bring Barnes in when there is a one run lead. When he comes in, I get a gut feeling every time that he isn't going to hold onto the lead. When Abreu came up, I stated before the first pitch was ever thrown, that Barnes was going to feed up the big one and Abreu was going to put one over everything and he did. What really t's me off is how he invariably messes up the first batter he faces and struts around the mound like he's done something special huffing and puffing like he's in charge. Back to the minors as far as I am concerned.

The frustration is that he’s not suited to the role; never has been.

He strikes out a lot of guys because he can throw hard, but his fastball is straight and the best hitters will get to it at some point. Like any pitcher though, he needs a second pitch that at least looks like a strike long enough for a hitter to chase it.

Sarcasm gets lost on the internet. I thought it was at first and I even said in a previous comment I can't tell if it's sarcastic anymore because you kept going on.... Generally if it's sarcastic at some point someone will say "Ok I was being sarcastic relax" I'm generally good at picking up on sarcasm but it didn't come off that way. Sorry if I ready into it wrong. Then you created the game thread and I was like.... Well this goes against everything he said in the first place which was super moronic to me.... I apologize.

So I have another thought draws. How come every team in MLB seems to hit home runs at will, leading off games, back-to-back-to-back, 9th inning, etc...but the Red Sox hitters can't hit similar home runs v. some s***** relievers and starters. Yes, 7 runs was more than enough to win, but in general, the Sox don't hit clutch bombs certainly not at the regularity of opponents v. the Sox pen.

Barnes is no closer. Neither is Brasier. Nor Workman. We don't have a closer. And if we don't get someone who can reliably close out games in the ninth inning we will not make the playoffs. Pretty simple.

No problem. Feel free to start the London game threads.

Ok let's get to it we don't have anyone to close games now except for Workman who's arm is likely to fall off soon and maybe the shaggy haired fella .The committee has failed in humiliating fashion .I watched Bogey absolutely ******** pissed and fed up reaming Erod and others a new one at what has become of the Pen and the pitching .Dave Dombrowski has failed the 2019 Redsox this is no longer on a particular player game or scenario .Dave Dombrowski has failed this fan base and Team. I don't know about you I'm about checked the F out now .The Celtics FA period that I never give a s*** about is what I'm looking forward to not the massacre in London and it will be a massacre .I am counting the days down to preseason Football and we haven't hit Fing July yet .I hate Dave for not getting Craig after winning the World Series he's an arrogant ******* who has gutted the farm and now gutted the pen.Now he did deliver a World Series great but he doesn't give a F this year and it's shown .We didn't need a comittee. We needed a closer .Dave you f***ed Boston for that f*** you you arrogant f*** .

I'm sorry I'm gonna defend Dombro. We won the 2018 World Series, it was a glorious regular season and sensational playoffs. This is all gravy right now. If the worst thing is the Red Sox have no bullpen, so be it. It can still be fixed, lots of ways to work a deal or make something happen with waiver wires.

I'm not even sure what the time start time is for us? It's got to be a 9 am or 10 am type game.... Regardless with how this team is playing I'm scared :( lol

Valid point but to a degree. If DD does not make a few moves shortly, he has gone senile. 16 blown saves in roughly 80 games. That is glaring!

I will admitt I am guilty of saying we didn't need Kimbrel.... I truly thought we would be ok without him..... Man was I wrong. I just wish we had a closer.

Gravy ??? Man this is Boston we don't need a freaking bridge year from one World Series to the next !! Why on earth do we give these GMs slack for absolutely butchering decisions and costing the team and fan base misery ? Screw that I'm done with that mentality .

I'm guessing everyone under 50 is crying the sky is falling and most of the 50 and over set are saying f*** me, I'm lucky as hell to be a Sox/Pats fan.
