Kind of tough to say but if Pedey is watching Holt, his knee is probably aching. Holt has done this before for a stretch and then gone IL with an unpredictable injury

Gave up a single on the first pitch, DP on the second and the third guy retired in the on deck circle. Ump called him ineligible. Inning done

I do believe that a player who bats out of order is out. So 3 outs on 2 pitches is possible.

Unbelievably, at this point in the season, Arizona has only played 31 games at home.

Chase Field is a nice park. Watched Colten Brewer blow a save back in April while there as the opening 11 game road trip ended.

Holt is definitely on the SOX 'fragile' list.

Great win all around. Some key hits. Patient batters (10 BBs). Erod did what it took. The pen came through.

Day off.

6 games at Fenway (TOR & CWS)

Then, off to London to beat up on the Yanks.

Very fine series of baseball with the added advantage of having WON IT!!!!

That is likely the best pitching performance we are ever going to see out of ERod. Very well done indeed. Put that Change to LH hitters in a box no larger than a ball and a half just off the corner and the Twins clearly treated it like a pitch that would leak back over the corner.

And we got runs.....they came off of the worst Gibson I have ever seen and off of Haaavid. But they were runs none the less.

I regret signing off (early bed time) around the 4th inning, but was delighted to awake to a big win.

If you will look near the end of the 17 inning game thread, you will read me saying it was a good loss and that clearly the Sox competitive spirit was back. Last year's team is back.

It’s nice to win. Minnesota is no slouch.

This.

Minnesota is a fantastic team this year, feels good to beat a team that is actually a playoff caliber type material...... Then again Texas was and we won 2 straight against them which was nice. Maybe this team is finally starting to role.

Do not swing

Ha ha. I kept saying that most of the game last night. The hitters were chasing pitches way out of the zone and helping Gibson out big time. I kept thinking, Don't swing!

Broadcasting Booth nerd alert.

I had the 'privilege' of listening to the Twins announcers this series. They spent a couple of innings talking about rubbing up the baseball. Give me the nerd any day of the week.

I listen to announcers from around baseball, and most can’t compare to the Red Sox team of Remy, Eck and OB, but our guys don’t need the visiting nerd service. Get that guy out of there. I switch broadcasts when he comes on. He adds nothing.

Erod is truly special. The true #5 in any rotation, he gets leads and promptly equalizes the situation, on a night when he knows his BP is dead meat and he needs to get 7+ innings. Just no improvement nor development over the past couple years

I was thinking the same thing about ERod's inability to go deep into this game, on a night when the BP so desperately needed the rest. ERod managed to get through 7, and Cora was even going to bring him out for the 8th until the long top half of the inning. Good job ERod. As frustrating as he can be, he got it done.

You know what would be neat in my opinion?

If Batman announced one of the Sox games lmao!

"SWEAR TO ME YOU WILL WIN THIS!!!!''

I'm a nerd I know :(

ERod has had a pattern of completely blowing up in the 6th inning, so it was really big that he got through 7 last night. I don’t think Cora was going to send him back out for the 8th. He had Brasier warming during the 7th and I think ER was at 111 pitches.

You are correct that most of the other announcing teams can't compare to the Red Sox team.

Every team needs nerd service.

padres still have orsillo? if so, they win the announcer cup.

It still ticks me off that the Sox got rid of Orsillo.

Don and Jerry = the best.

I get my nerd service here. NESN nerd never provides any enlightenment over what I get here.

I wasn't a huge Orsillo fan.

When Remy and Eck are in the booth together it's great stuff. They bring out the best in each other.

Much like Batman and Robin.

Completely agree. He sticks out like a sore thumb, and not in a good way. Just a statistical geek. They might as well have a robot in the booth. You would think that NESN would pick up on this by now.. surely.

The only entertaining thing about him being in the booth (and I stress “only”) is that Eck calls him “Stat Masterson.”
