We got too many white flags in the pen:

Velazquez, Johnson, Taylor, Smith, Poyner, Thornburg...

We need pen help, and it doesn't have to be a closer.

Most of those pitchers aren’t all in the pen at once. A little misleading to quibble over the minor league depth and call it the bullpen..,

1 for 13 with RISP and 14 LOB is not a bullpen issue...

After blowing two more saves tonight, the Red Sox are now 2nd in the MLB in blown saves, behind the Mets

A well deserved Fat L!!!! Win tomorrow otherwise it will just another series lost to a 500 team.

The Twins are a .500 team? They’re like 48-24...

Johnson does suck. Not sure why Dombrowski has this thing for him...

He utterly sucks as a reliever. He’s at least had his moments as a starter (albeit not many).

But the stat nerds say having a legit closer is overrated. DON' T NEED A LEGIT CLOSER!

Well, yes you do.

Johnson is an AAAA player, he is what he is. If you get into the 17th inning of a game you don't have many options. Its either a s***** pitcher or a position player.

Johnson did come thru the SOX system, so his performance as a pitcher should not be surprising.

But his presence cry on the Sox roster should be!!

We've had 2+ scrubs at all times.

We've been burned too many times by our 6th, 7th & 8th best RPer's at any given time in the season.

Our better RP'ers have struggled, at times, but to me, we can't keep needing to go to these scrubs in key games day after day and expect better results.

Right. If only the Sox had a legit closer and held him out of the game until the 13th inning!!

You can' have a closer by committee if you have a good bullpen, see the Rays. You can't do it when you have a bunch of AAAA players, like the Red Sox have in the pen. I can't believe we've had games where Hector Velazquez and Josh Smith have even had an opportunity at a save lol.

Right, The Sox need to bump all these guys down a notch...

We have 14 BS already. 14!

We definitely need a closer. It’s not rocket science.

This was just an awful loss. at least 4 different times they had a runner on 3rd and less than 2 outs and didn't score. Vazquez was horrendous. JD sucked, I have no idea why Price was pulled, Velazquez got hurt and Brian Johnson still sucks.

yeah it's frustrating. This all falls on DD. Again bullpen building isn't really his strength.

You're right, but having one more solid RP'er has to make us have a better chance in games like this.

(I'd like to see us get 2, and they don't have to necessarily be closers.)

The Sox don’t really have a committee. They have a closer who gets the bulk of the opportunities. He is just kind of mediocre and doesn’t get the tougher outings...
