Based on subsequent AB's by JBJr after his cherry popping HR, have no fear that it indicates a turnaround in his batting. Foul out and very weak kneed K.

This will be a turning point for JBJ!

Eduardo Rodriguez has a 68 FIP- his season, meaning his Fielding Independent Pitching is 32% better than league average. The pitchers >5% better than him this year: Ryu, Cole, Castillo, Snell, Scherzer, Glasnow

Yet his ERA- 106, 6% worse than league average. A major divergence.

Why the difference between FIP and ERA? “Luck”

His .364 BABIP is next to last among starters, the 65% Left on Base % is 12th lowest, and the .032 difference between his wOBA and expected-wOBA is the 3rd highest. Basically anything that can go wrong is going wrong.

On the flip side, and this is totally unrelated to the above, but E-Rod is like a walking rabbit's foot when it comes to run support and winning games.

The Sox have scored 8.77 runs per game in his starts this year and are 7-2.

Over the last 2 seasons the Sox are an incredible 26-6 in E-Rod's starts.

JD Martinez did not play yesterday, so something must be up physically with him to be out today.

There's no roster move coming at this point.

Curious to see what they say. Might be something minor and they are just being safe.
